Up High Raise and Low Raise from Burnbanks. Bit headachy again this am and wasn't sure if I was up to this but felt good once I got going. Up in 52, down the steep spur in no time flat, crawled home from there.

Note
(rest day)

Pretty smashed today and had a long stressful drive to the Lakes with a grumpy baby.

Another run on the Dava Way. Felt wiped out when I finished last night and when I woke up this morning, but for some reason my legs wanted to run a bit faster this morning. Tempo intervals, 10/2x2 then 5/1x4. Moving well throughout but hip stiffened up a bit, need to watch this old niggle, which has resurfaced after all the terrain running.

Creaking and groaning this morning. With Alex through Roseisle to Hopeman via Burghead. Nice undulating path through the dunes followed by a cycle path on an old railway line, perfect for sleeping babies, except Alex decided to stay awake. Oh well, worth a try.

Running 1:10:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (45:00 @3) 12.0 km (5:50 / km) +500m 4:50 / km

Evening run up Carn an Uillt Bhric from Drynachan, back along the Findhorn gorge. Thought it was worth driving to get a better run in after last night's frustrating effort. This was also frustrating in its own way; I slogged up the hill in soft spongy heather and moss, only to make it to the next ridge and spot an unmapped gravel road winding its way up most of the climb just below the apex. Oh well. Stopped off for a dusk dip at Dulcie Bridge on the way home.

Buggy run in the rain along the Dava Way (railway footpath from Forres to Grantown). AJ fell asleep pretty quickly which meant that I didn't risk going too far.
7 PM

Running 50:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:33 / km) +200m 5:00 / km

Frustrating evening run trying to find some nice trails. Had a couple of aborted attempts on forest roads that were overgrown then headed down to Randolph's Leap only to realise that I am not as brave as Randolph. Found a place to ford the river and followed my normal route home.

Up Cairngorm from the ski centre with a brief detour via Ben Macdui. Bumped into Jonny on the way up, who ran with me for a bit, hit the ridge sooner than anticipated so decided to extend. Great running over the granite-strewn lunar landscape - I've not done much mountain running up here and it has a pretty different character from the Lakes, generally much more benign underfoot with gravel and nice rounded boulders to bounce over. Eventually made it back to Cairngorm, in a bit of a hurry to meet Jen, Alex et al at the funicular station.
12 PM

Running 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Down from the station after lunch. Didn't take long so ran back up a bit to meet the train.

Spent the day playing at Landmark then got out for a shortish run from Carrbridge. Found a nice looking trail up a hill and followed it for as long as I was allowed. Nice.
