Hameau, 6,6km (8'06"/km)
Beautiful sunny spring day, 13C. Definitely feeling the legs a bit after yesterday's tour. Very excited to be orienteering in the forest again.
1) Silly mistake. Had a good, safe route, but ended up at the other depression in the circle which also had a marker ribbon. Got confused and didn't see the other depression right away. 1'
2) Overshot the control, hit the undergrowth north of the control. 20"
5) Really fun steep downhill in the open beech forest.
6) Easy route choice but very physical.
8) Had seen the southern route but decided to stay high on the north route. In hindsight dropping down was better, the ridge still had 40m of climb and the downhill was very thorny.
9) Slight fear for this control but hit it spot on and moved well on the slope.
11) Drifted off course slightly, not the best route through the green.
12) Map was a bit off here, but i was also not precise enough. 30"
13) Took the left route choice, should've just dropped down to the trail and climbed back up instead of contouring on the slope. 20"
Strong finish, could've pushed harder the last few controls but stayed in control in the tricky area. Not very satisfied, mistakes were preventable and i lack some navigational sharpness. Ok for a first time! Course was marked at having 260m of climb, but turned out way higher. If 5% is considered much, then this was actually a very climby course.
