MTB 1:15:00 [3] 25.6 km (2:56 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Hardly a mountain bike, but it was all on gravel roads at least... Riding around the roads from Watermark Kilns. Sth on Karri Hill Rd to Lane-Poole Rd. All the way to the end, Right on Bannister then looking for a way back through. Settled on Stoate Rd, which was good for most of the way, bt got really overgrown in the middle and I ended up having o dismount a couple of times to get through bush and also scored a few grazes on my arms. Stoate Rd got me back onto Lane-Poole Rd and then back the way I came.

paddle 1:33:00 [3] 13.5 km (6:53 / km)
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

After a few very slack days where evenings spent exercising the thumbs reduced motivation for early morning training sessions, I was back into it this am with another paddle. No issues other than a very low tide and heaps of weed. Near Garrett Rd bridge I was dragging through weed out in the middle of the river. Crazy. Saw Evo on his way into the carpark as I was leaving.

cycle 2:18:57 [3] 67.61 km (2:03 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Freeway South to Mt Henry, around the river to Freo, back up the coast. Pretty windy and hard work for the first half in particular. Awesome fum from Freo home.

tried riding with Dad's bike shoes to see if they felt very different / helped me to relax my left foot whilst riding. A few aches in different spots. Probably better overall, but also probably need to be adjusted a bit to get everything where it shoud be.

Yellow Powerade tastes so much better than orange Gatorade it's ridiculous...

paddle 1:29:45 [3] 13.5 km (6:39 / km)
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Lazy day yesterday - I guess there's some room for that on holidays, but back on the horse today.
Banks Reserve-Garret Rd Bridge returning via canal. (I'd call it the usual, but my paddling has been so sporadic there's no such thing)

Pretty still when I started at 12:30, sea-breeze came in, making the return journey (47 min) somewhat harder than the way out (42 min)

A few weird feelings returned today - stability and confidence. Don't know where they came from, but I wasn't complaining. Through the waterski area both ways no trouble at all. The only downside was that I had gone in to the paddle dtermined to practice my brace strokes and never needed them :(

Was even slightly enjoyable at times. Would have been more so if my hands and forearms hadn't been tired from MTB on the weekend (yes, I know I'm not meant to hang on to the handlebars that tight)

First paddle on this ski without falling off since the first time I paddled it. A few more of those and I might even get it out on the ocean this summer...

MTB 3:00:00 [3] 32.0 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

No idea how long we actually rode for or where we went. A fair idea from the first WNM hill that I suck completely (who would have thought that not doing somthing doesn't improve skills OR fitness hey MTBJen). Happy to get through without totally dying. Gears started to skip quite a lot in the second half, but annoyingly it was otherwise good, so no excuse to buy a new one. (Like wrapping it roud a tree or something). Ah well.

If you wanna know where we went, see MTBJen's or Tooms' log...

paddle 45:00 [2]
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Another short, easy paddle. Still fell in lots, but felt a bit better in between. Practiced a few brace strokes at the end, but it seems kind of pointless when you know which way you are going to tip.

Note
(sick)

Typical. Last day of work for the year, and I wake up sick. went in for a morning of writing QBC on a whole lot of balls and then the staff lunch. Felt like crap.

Start the comments rolling Evo...

cycle (commute) 57:20 [3] 29.0 km (1:59 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

felt good. Tailwind. Nothing much more to report.

Short shorts day (moving offices day) at work today. Busy morning, spent the afternoon safety-checking the table tennis tables.

cycle (commute) 1:07:30 [3] 29.0 km (2:20 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Still felt good, but it was a tough slog into the breeze.

swim 38:00 [3] 1.5 km (25:20 / km)

Unspectacular and slow swim (as normal)
Seem to have lost a pair of goggles (in addition to the ones I broke) and my budgie-smugglers (how on earth do you lose those???) in my recent trips to the swimming pool. Had to swim in the tri shorts...

3oom W/U
2 x 1oom

Got out before I got carried away...

paddle 1:02:00 [2]
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Easy, short paddle from Banks Reserve to try to remind myself how to paddle a bit. Went swimming 5 times. Grrrr. 4 in water ski area, 5th one is still a mystery to me...
Crap, but could have been worse, and warm enough that falling in was actualy quite pleasant.

swim 25:00 [3] 1.0 km (25:00 / km)

Pretty meaningless nothing session. Was meant to be more, but goggles snapped (the nosepiece) 500m in and eyes were getting nasty, so I gave up and went to work. Almost got there on time.

cycle (commute plus) 2:05:20 [3] 63.5 km (1:58 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Have been a bit lazy of late, and wanted to see how long this loop would take as a more taxing pre-work ride next year. Also a chance of taking advantage of a 9am start (turns out it was meant to be 8:30 - oh well).

Left far too late after getting up late and helping get the girls ready (a bit) for daycare. Jst before 7:15 was never gong to be enough time.

Cruised towards work. Surprised by early pace, figured there must be a good tailwind, so decided to do the loop to Yanchep and back to school anyway. Didn't really push at all heading north, but still did about 84 minutes for 46km... then the ineveitable struggle back to school (about 17km in 41minutes.

Arrived at 9:20 and settled in for a coffee and some breakfast before contemplating some not too taxing work. School is pretty awesome without the students :)

cycle (commute) 1:06:12 [3] 29.0 km (2:17 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Wanted to just roll home effort-free, but was scared that if I really took it easy, I might end up going backwards. Felt better than expected. Back quite sore for a patch at about 20 minutes and again for the last 10 minutes.

Noticed today that there seems to be a correlation between the completeness of a roadie's team kit and how funny their "I'm riding fast" face looks. Roadies are weird.

cycle (commute) 1:01:35 [3] 29.0 km (2:07 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Was very lazy yesterday. Did my kneehab, but piked on both the core session and the windtrainer. Watched Top Gear and drank beer instead.

Ride this morning was nearly a commute via Yanchep, but bed was too cosy and warm at 5:30, so it became just the standard commute an hour or so later. Back is stiffening up a lot, not enjoying the exam supervision today :(

cycle (commute) 58:35 [3] 29.0 km (2:01 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Unexceptional ride home. Wind didn't seem able to decide which direction it was coming from.
Too lazy to do kneehab today.
Tomorrow is last day with students for the year! Yay!!!

cycle 2:02:00 [3] 61.0 km (2:00 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Basically the same ride as 2 weekends ago, without a couple of the wrong turns along the way. Though I was going to have a hot but fast ride, as there was virtually no wind as I was getting ready to leave. Didn't pan out that way as the seabreeze came in just as I was leaving, making it hard work for teh first half. Left glute got sore after 40 minutes, slowly migrated to left lower back, evened up by also including right lower back at about the 90 minute mark, but only lasted about 10 minutes and then semed to loosen up.
Great fun coming home, pushed hard. Out in just over 66 minutes, back in just under 56...

How many points do you get for going straight past a roadie in full FDJ kit with his silky smooth legs and all as he struggled up a 'hill' (about 3-5m gain in elevation) on your flat bar commuter bike. He was suffering so much he didn't even attempt to draft off me. I hope for his sake he was about 300km into his ride coz it looked pretty embarassing.

cycle (commute) 1:06:00 [3] 29.0 km (2:17 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Gahhh. Swimming won't work to loosen me up unless I do it a bit more often (or start with a more realistic session). Could only reach halfway down my shins this morning.

Legs felt heavy from the outset. I thought they would be good once warmed up. I was wrong. Struggle street the whole way.

cycle (commute) 56:50 [3] 29.0 km (1:58 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Home again. Legs felt toasted at the start, but I was inspired by the not-so-evil-after-all-coz-it-stayed-from-the-north-west-all-day wind, so pushed pretty hard.

swim 40:00 [3] 1.5 km (26:40 / km)

Thought training log was looking a bit monotone, so jumped in for a quick swim before school training this morning. I suck at swimming. Was hoping it might help to loosen up my back, but given it;s the first proper swim I've had for over 6 months it will probably do the opposite.

2 x 500m, 5x100m (not in that order)

core stability 45:00 [3]

Tried out the old plank routine from the beach set. Couldn't finish it. Wow I suck. Too lazy to go get the fitball, so a bunch of ab and other stuff in the gym.

cycle (commute) 58:30 [3] 29.0 km (2:01 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Finally did something after 4 slack days off. Not surprisingly, felt quite fresh for the ride in. Bit quicker than it has been since I started doing it again. Maybe not doing a monday night windtrainer session make Tuesday morning easier.

cycle (commute) 1:04:00 [3] 29.0 km (2:12 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Not surprisingly I rode home. Hot. Headwind. Hard work. Hope it starts getting easier again in a couple more weeks.
