Saturday Mar 30 #

2 PM

Backcountry skiing (Coomback) 1:30:00 [3] 5.0 km (18:00 / km) +435m 12:33 / km

Powder Creek Lodge with Courtney, Stuart, Mike, Anaelle, Russ, Vikki, Anna, Ashley, Travis, Scott and Jordan.

Their transfer is a bit complicated due to a briefing in Nelson and then a flight from Kaslo. We didn't have any weather issues so arrived just before lunch. After the hut briefing and a rescue scenario we did a couple runs on the west facing runs off Sunrise ridge (Sugar Mama?). It has snowed several cm overnight (plus another several the day prior) so reasonable skiing despite the solar aspect.

Classic ski 1:05:00 [2] 13.0 km (5:00 / km) +275m 4:31 / km

A short classic ski with Courtney and Milo. This will be the last ski on the dog loop given the conditions and the fact that we'll be out of town for the next wee. Upper trails were surprisingly firm given the temperature (2 degrees). Almost seemed like it wanted to snow.

Thursday Mar 28 #

Downhill Skiing 45:00 [3]

Resort with my parents and Stuart.

Wednesday Mar 27 #

1 PM

Bike 1:00:00 [3] 18.0 km (18.0 kph) +370m
shoes: Norco Search XR

Out on the greenbelt with Milo first (where the trails are snow free) and then up to the national park. No snow on the trail up to the 5k parking lot. Parkway looks like it won't take long for it to be rideable at the gate. Threw in some single track on Toaster just for the hell of it.

Tuesday Mar 26 #

9 AM

Skate ski 1:25:00 [3] 20.25 km (4:12 / km) +420m 3:48 / km

A better ski today as Milo was happier to trot beside me and didn't see any big dogs on the dog loop. After dropping him off I skied steady for another hour. Legs were tired from the workout yesterday.

Monday Mar 25 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

Cross fit with mainly quad work. KB squats, 80 wall balls, and lots of low cadence riding on the assault bike. Learned how to climb a rope though my shoes did not like descending the rope...
10 AM

Skate ski 55:00 [3] 12.5 km (4:24 / km) +235m 4:01 / km

The snow on the dog loop is disappearing fast... too thin to take the big groomer on the loop and won't take long for major holes to appear. This was not the best ski as Milo seemed to constantly ski several feet behind me (waiting for Courtney) and then it seemed like we constantly had to change direction to avoid dogs (due to his reactivity). It didn't help that I was quite sleep deprived from my night shift.

Sunday Mar 24 #

Downhill Skiing 45:00 [3]

Ski hill with Courtney and family. Firm conditions but sunny/warm. Skied the Brahmas.
