Note
(rest day)

Wanted to run. Wanted to pick up my new road bike. Wanted to take kids to the pool. But the thick smoke scuppered all of that. Quite a boring day in the end.

Note
(rest day)

Would have been nice to run, but it was the hottest day ever in Canberra.

Running 38:00 [3] 7.5 km (5:04 / km) +140m 4:38 / km

Flew back to Canberra today. It was smoky and like a ghost town, with supermarket shelves half empty. In the evening it did clear up a touch so, having seen the forecast for the next couple of days, I nipped out for a late lap of Taylor despite having already had a couple of beers. Enjoyed the run, but the achilles was a bit sore to begin with.

Running 1:17:00 [3] 12.0 km (6:25 / km) +740m 4:54 / km

Ran from the Elsons' to The Springs via Hobart Rivulet, Cascade trail to Old Farm, Junction Cabin, Sphinx Rock. Great trail running route. Achilles sore to begin with so I literally limped a few kms. After that eased off, hammies got sore. So it was basically a slow struggle the whole way.

Running 45:00 [3] 9.1 km (4:57 / km) +220m 4:25 / km

From the Elsons' to the Domain and around the trails on that. Pretty stiff, sore and slow: 2mins slower for a 12min segment than I was 2 years ago on a loosener :s

Running 51:00 [3] 8.9 km (5:44 / km) +400m 4:41 / km

Following my nose from the Waterworks, up to Fern Tree and back over Chimney Pot Hill. Ended up quite a hilly route, which was nice.

Running 53:00 [3] 10.4 km (5:06 / km) +240m 4:34 / km

Bert (aka Hagar) took me to Hobart Hash House Harriers, from Mt Nelson. Good to get the old 'On on's going again, and have some beers and burgers after. Had a few problems finding the trail in places - near the end I managed to jump back to the early part of the trail and run a km that I had already done. Today was Hobart's turn to hit 40 degrees - fortunately it was the only real hot day we had on our whole trip.
