Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 872 Off Road

O training at Mt Majura West with Heather (and Mary). Took some old training maps for a terrain run. Heather and I kept together, but met Mary went off on her own. We did cross paths a few times (Heather had to help her relocate at one point).

Heather had to be back home at 10 so I didn't go for as long as I had planned, but still found it good. I need to do more terrain running.

Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2110

BL Squad run at Aranda Hill / Black Mt. Had a couple of the junior boys (and their dads) come this morning so the pace was a bit easier. I had done some b&w photocopied maps again with the route highlighted, including short cuts. It works well when the group has such varied running speeds.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2110

Easy run around Girralang Pines before and after some intervals.

Running intervals 15:00 [4]
shoes: asics GT-2110

Decided it was time to start adding some intervals to my running. Found a long gentle hill in the pines. Only did four in the end but was pleased with the even times: 69sec, 72sec, 71sec, 73sec. Probably could have managed one more, but I was stuffed, and the lightning was getting close.

Orienteering race (Mt Wanniassa) 44:14 [3] 5.4 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: New Balance 872 Off Road

Twilight orienteering event. Course didn't go through the crap, and even went through a bit of Fadden, which gave some variety and a couple of route choices. I missed control 5 by about 20m but picked it up straight away. No mistakes on the remainder. I walked a bit on a few of the hills, but otherwise managed a nice steady run.

On the way home it absolutely pissed down. Haven't seen rain like it for ages. The lightning was very impressive too.

Note

I visited the doctor and had my foot X-rayed at lunchtime today. The doctor, or 'quack', thought it might be a stress fracture, but the X-ray showed nothing wrong. No other suggestion from the quack - but that's what you get from the bulk billing medical centre. Next stop is the podiatrist on Friday.

Running race 33:50 [4] 7.1 km (4:46 / km)
shoes: asics GT-2110

Cross country summer series around Lake Ginninderra on bike path. My time was 5 minutes quicker than 3 years ago, and I remember my aim that day was to do the run without stopping. I was only 1.5 minutes slower than my time previous to that, which was 18 years ago. Hmm... a bit of a gap there which seems to equate to Heather's age. There could be a connection.

I felt fairly yuck at times today, especially when running directly into the sun without shade. Come on winter!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: asics GT-2110

Running late, so not much of a chance for a longer warm up.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Right foot still sore, but getting better. Mind you, the cross country tomorrow is on the bike paths around Lake Ginninderra so that won't do it any favours.
