Adventure! race 6:30:00 [5]

Edinburgh Rat Race - the Big One.

Team Prudential Forth Valley raring for the challenge - well, almost. Ross looking too lively, me and John worrying about cramping and knees/calves.
Took it steady on the first run and got out on the bike in about 15th place. Slowly crawled up to about 10th around the first half. Second half we picked up a bit - got a bit smoother as a team until I rode into a post in the middle of the footpath just before Herriot Watt. I was lucky. Bike OK, me, well let's just say I am still hurting 2 days later - badly bruised thigh, scars on both butt cheeks, damaged shoulder ligaments.......
Anyway, adrenaline kicked in and got through the orienteering - thanks to our supporters and Tigger Ross. Then long bike section to John's swim in the reservoir then over hill and on to Ross's tunnel and then across town to Napier Uni for an easy abseil while John took the high route. Then home without too many misshaps. Dischuffed that there was no banana wall to finish!

Great to see FVO supporters and a wee bit o help from J9 made all the difference to mine and John's cramping....
A great experience and good fun - great teamwork too. I think I let the side down though with my biking - pretty sure we'd have been 30 minutes quicker w ithout me. But glad I did it and glad for John - I think he has the bug. As for Ross - Get a Proper Team! And you'll go far.
Thanks Guys. 5th place - not bad for us crocks!

Adventure! 2:24:00 [5]

Edinburgh Rat Race - Mean Streets.

Team Prudential Forth Valley with Ross McLennan and John Stevenson.
I gotta admit to being very nervous about this - both the other guys are excellent runners! Thankfully they let me hold a map and it helped me go quicker. Great team work saw us work out a good route and get round all but one checkpoint within the allotted time - the Dragon's Den. Unfortunately queues here looked to be 20-30 minutes so we took a miss to get everything else. In hindsight it looks like they speeded things up and we just mighta made it round to do a similar result to Marcus's team.
Janine's TM;ing was what made our day. Back to John's for the overnight and refuel - calves cramping and killing me!!! How will I survive tomorrow???

Run 1:00:00 [4]

Met up with jamie to talk shop and also watch the Maddy Moss Fell race which Murray Strain won by a mile. Hollie Orr turned out and ran well, just behind Dad. Roscoe in the top 10 again too.

Met with the Rat Race team to discuss tactics after - it's amazing how much this race depends on the brain as much as the brawn (thank God!).

Run 30:00 [3]

A wee run on the roads to get my legs into coping a bit for the weekend. Tired mentally but enjoying the run.

(rest day)

A full day at work.
Knackered.

Had to drive from Aberfoyle to Dunkeld mid morning and do work there.

Not even the energy to unpack tonight.
