Orienteering race 1:15:08 [4]

SBOC Broughton Burrows. A really tricky sand dune area. The tops seemed higher than I remember. Certainly a lot of climb throughout the course. Disappointed that I had a 400m run out & back in on my course. We had to cross to the first fence before we started to navigate. What a waste. Apart from number 6 I kept in close contact with the map and knew where I was all the time! Went off from 5 at an angle which took me into the wrong depression and off at a tangent. Took a while to relocate. Went round a couple of hills to avoid extra climb. Pleased with run, even if the result was poor.

Orienteering race 53:04 [3]

SBOC Evening event, Whiteford Burrows. I've not orienteered in such heavy rain for a loing timne. Pouring when we arrived, soaked by the time we started and then a really heavily downpour when out on the open! Not my idea of fun. Despite this, it was an amazing area, one I'd love to do again in the dry! Slight over shoot at 5, but otherwise hit all controls dead on.

Note

Pulled top of my right quad again - seems to be one move in Jam that causes the problem. Back to the ice and ibruprofen.

Orienteering 1:21:11 [3]

BAOC Training event, Green course. Complete balls up from the Start. Didn't check my compass properly and went a long way North, instead of East!! 9 minutes later I got to number 1. Was too short on 3 - found getting into the 1: 7500 scale tricky. David caught me up and this enabled me to relocate. Just before 6 there was an extra path which was confusing a lot of people. Eventually saw a guy to my right who'd obviously found it! Then rushed off to 7 and from my attack point track junction went south to a hill, instead of SE to a depression! Slow along the tracks to 9, taking the longer track route to 10. Tripped big time leaving 13, so slow on next split.
All in all a crap run. When will I get it right? We've a 3 race weekend ahead, including a 2 x 2 relay. Must try not to let David down.

Special Sassie mix for a few weeks before the new release. I only knew about 3 or 4 tracks. Very hard work - lots of good banter.

Orienteering race 1:42:34 [3]

BADO Blackwood event. What a day. Pissing down with rain from 8 o'clock & not due to end until 10pm. Parked over 1 km away from Registration so soaked before we even began. Too far north on first control, eventually relocated and saw others going in to it. Just could not find number 6 at all! Tricky area with loads of extra mountain bike tracks. Found a control on a clearing, but thought it was a different one. Faffed around for ages and then came south & tried again. Then found another control on a rootstock, but again relocated from wrong one. Just could not read the fine detail on the map as I had to go without my glasses. After half an hour I gave up. Came upon next control by chance, but just couldn't be arsed to go back. As it was I only beat the time of 3 other people. Slight problem , being too far north at 8, but relocated, with David's help. The feature for 11, a tree was unreadable on the mapa as the green circle was in the middle of green!! Finished the course, but pissed off by the weather. Soaked to the skin and we were going off to my birthday meal with my hair absolutely soaked through.
