Sunday Nov 25

Running (Tr) 43:15 [3]5.5 mi (7:51 / mi)
ahr:148 (injured)
Only time for a short easy run, after a bad night with Jamie. It proved two things:

1) After 10+ years excellent service from Saucony Grid shoes, they no longer fit my resculpted right-hand heel. Goodbye, old friends. Need to find an Asics equivalent.
2) I will need to do back exercises for the rest of my running career. I pulled my lower back on the run, much as I started doing in the early 00's, which eventually culminated in 2004's herniated disc and 6-month lay-off. Crippled, can't touch my knees, never mind my toes. A**e.
C • holy cow that sounds a bit ... 6

Saturday Nov 24

Event: Forth Valley Club Champs

Orienteering race 55:00 [3]*** 5 km (11:00 / km) +225m 8:59 / km
ahr:145
I was pretty pants and slow in the terrain, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Could have been 8 or so minutes faster, but I had my achilles conservation hat on (as the average HR shows!)

Friday Nov 23

Running (Trail) 44:50 [3]6.0 mi (7:29 / mi)
ahr:142 max:165 shoes: Inov8 RocLite
Gorgeous, crisp, clear day - snow on Ben More and Stob Binnein in the distance. Lovely run around the glen and up into the forest behind the house, seeking out some inspection lanes. Achilles has been stiff since Wednesday - lots of stretching required this evening before the CLUB CHAMPS tomorrow!

Thursday Nov 22

Gym (Cross-trainer) 20:00 [3]
ahr:148 shoes: Asics GT-2120 road
Not much cop at this today.
Gym (Rowing) 10:00 [2]
ahr:140 shoes: Asics GT-2120 road
Pretty poor at this too!
Gym (Strength training) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2120 road

Wednesday Nov 21

Gym (Cross-trainer) 30:00 [4]7 km (4:17 / km)
ahr:157 shoes: Asics GT-2120 road
Quick, strong 30 minutes on the cross-trainer before the night-O.
Orienteering (Night-O) 29:03 [4]** 5 km (5:49 / km)
ahr:168 spiked:10/10c shoes: Inov8 RocLite
FVO Night-O series, Hermitage Woods (bad weather venue to replace Dumyat West). A blast around the woods and campus. Pretty much just had a nice cruise along behind Fraser all the way! No idea why the heart-rate was so high, really didn't feel like I was running that hard. Maybe because of the hard 30 minute "warm up" on the cross-trainer beforehand?
Comedy slide down off the hill, really could have down with having some grip on my shoes - but at least we opened up enough of a gap to give Ross a target to reel back in on the long next leg across the campus, before he took his 'optimum route choice' after #7 and disappeared off into the building site, never to be seen again. Mind you his specs were opaque with rain at the time... Good blether in the pub afterwards, as always.
Running (Warm down) 20:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 RocLite
Collected in some controls with Fraser, as a warm-down.
