Orienteering race 58:32 [5]

Was feeling it a bit warming up but as i saw Rhodri through the spectator just behind the lead it went away. Rhodri held it together for the last leg and sent me out in the lead pack. Was with the pack for the the first half leading for a good few controls but then we split at a gaffle and i made a 1 minute mistake, tried to pull it back but no good. Stuck at it the whole way and was clean but was struggling physically in the second half of the course, had a battle with the czech junior team and got in ahead of them. Doug had another good run and Hector had a cracking run considering the circumstances (14km after so many days of training). Great result from the lads today, we are learning that it is easy to run relays well as long as you get of to a good start. Rhodri you legend. Good performances from the 18s too.

Great week, great results from the team at the end of it. Things are looking very positive.

Easy Run 15:00 [2]

Orienteering race 56:10 [5]

Despite all the training i felt ready to peform before the race. I was first start which is always a bit of a bummer but just dealt with it. Lost time on first couple and 2 minutes on one control as i ran down the wrong path and had to cut across. Got Rhodri by 3 secs as we sneaked into the top 20. Wanted a top 10.

Easy Run 45:00 [3]

Run to start etc and long warm down after running with Jase to the start then back.

Gym Session 30:00 [3]

Another session by GG when we got up.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Session put on by Majorna. I remembered cocking up at oringen here when i was a complete punter. Orienteered well round the loops, just took it steady as not to kill myself. Then there was a couple of long legs back. Made Douglas wait by taking maverick route choices.

Orienteering 40:00 [4]

First leg relay practice, had long gaffle to one so Doug got away. I knew there was one person ahead as every now and again i would see footprints. Snow was very deep in ojerjo but still felt good pushing through it. Ran straight to control where Doug was standing didn't see kite so went hunting realised when Ali came down the hill. Chased after him but never quite got him - 5sec down.

Intervals (Snow runs) 5:00 [1]

From sauna out round the hut (plus roll) for the first rep and then from sauna to Ralph's igloo and back for the second rep. Fully clothed of course.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [4]

Mass start gaffled course on getryggen, this area is great probably most relevant to JWOC. Was orienteering well but not sure if that was because you couldn't get up to much of a pace.

Orienteering 25:00 [4]

3 loops around a good little sprint area in the town with the spaniards (2 male 1 top ten). Good review session in the evening.

Easy Run warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Warm up and collecting controls.

Gym Session 30:00 [3]

GGs core session.

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Gaffled course to get us back into Gothenburg terrain at Jonsered (or terrains as GG would say). Realised to number one that if there is a path option take it in snow. Felt a bit leggy so cut the course short like a lot of other people, was loving the picturesque terrain.

Easy Run 10:00 [2]

Managed to fall over twice in the car park much to everyone's amusement. Then the obligatory snow ball fight on the warm up.

Orienteering race 32:49 [5]

First leg for ShUOC. Just employed the tactics you should do in a relay. Run behind the front few all the way. Separated into a front pack of about six and ran round together, one guy got away on a gaffle. Put the boot in across the fields on the way back to try and catch him didn't quite manage it but he was non comp. Lost maybe 20 s to number one but no more. Baptiste Rollier did 31.37 on the same gaffle. Great to have two GB juniors in the front group.

After relay got in with the EUOC crowd to the airport and then off to snowy gothenburg...

Easy Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]
