Rhonda's morning class without Rhonda, who was taking her sister to the airport. Cindy was in charge, a bit nervous, and certainly a less imperious leader. It went fine, though. A total of 8 in attendance.

Stratton Brook XC course. Late in the day, just before dark. Splits at each bridge crossing: 4:42; 9:42; 15:40

with Rhonda and Chris. Thought there might be some crossfit involved, but R is feeling a bit under the weather, and I had to get going to the doctor's. Got another cortisone shot in my elbow.

Orienteering race 2:58:00 [3] 13.9 km (12:48 / km) +280m 11:38 / km
shoes: 2009 Yellow NB 840s

Blue Hills Traverse. Started badly, with poor route choice/execution and very slow running. By the time I was off the first map, I was wondering if I would be able to finish by dark. Back and hamstring achy.

Got a stick deep in my ear shortly after #1 and found it mightily distracting until I finally worked it out around #13.

Middle section was a bit better, but a slog. Occasionally seeing the gang a few minutes ahead - George, Ken W Sr, Jeff Shapiro, Fred Pilon, Bruce Shenker, but mostly alone. Back and forth a bit with Bruce on 7-10 before leaving him behind on the way to 11.

Got a better rhythm after 12 or so, and finished better over the last several, catching Jeff at 15 or thereabouts and not quite catching up to George.

Tough drive back - back and hamstring acting up a lot.
