More of a fun ride than race i.t.o organisation as well as my participation. A lot different to the seeded starts and road closures in SA though a nice luxury for that not to be necessary. First bit was more bike orienteering as I started by myself and had to go pretty slowly not to miss any turns (did miss one). Rode by myself for first 20' or so then got pulled in by 10 club guys so I sat with them for the next hour until the first station. Then it was solo again for most of the rest of the way which meant the speed dropped drastically again. We all know the stats but gee what a difference it makes sitting in a group, even a small one.

Can clearly see diff in pace with group - ave 30km/hr and 22-25km/hr otherwise...
