12 PM

Swimming 1:00:00 [3] 1.8 km (33:20 / km)

Wrote my own plan! But couldn't follow it properly as the lap clock thingy was broken, so just rested until I felt OK, which was probably a bit too long.

100 free, 100 pull, 100 fs/bs, 100 long/smooth

200 scull/fs, 200 rolling drill / fs, 200 popov/fs (rolling and popov with flippers)

4 x 50 strong
6 x 50 fast as possible while maintaining breathing (not quite a flat out sprint)

200 easy, 100 fs/bs

The rolling drill doesn't freak me out like it used to and I felt surprisingly OK. Tried to get the guy next to me to play races in the section where I was trying to swim fast, but he freaked out and ran away. I'll try to be less terrifying in the future.

Physio (all of it) 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Barefoot

All of it.
5 PM

MetrO 47:27 intensity: (29 @1) + (1:14 @2) + (6:36 @3) + (38:07 @4) + (1:01 @5) * 5.57 km (8:31 / km) +80m 7:57 / km

City Beach Metro. First time on the medium course. Ran just fine on the road, but died hard on the sand. Route choice failure meant way too much time spent on the beach.

For the first time out, I just wanted to be under an hour, so big tick there. But will be doing a lot more thinking before running next time!

Another tick off the bucket list. That makes three in the last month or so, which is a nice indication of steadily improving fitness.

walk/shuffle 45:00 [3] 5.2 km (8:39 / km)
shoes: Asics Trabuco 11 WR

Woke up after a normal-length sleep (instead of the 10-12 hours I have been clocking) full of bounce and wanting to go for a run for the first time in ages.

Did 2.2km uphill at 7.30/km and 1.8 downhill at 6.20/km. Walked quite a bit before and after.

Achilles fine, but both calves tight most of the way and really nasty nag in the left hip/ITB.

Had a big nap in the afternoon.
4 PM

Physio (legs and shoulders) 45:00 [1]
shoes: Barefoot

Leg strengthen and stretch, shoulder stretch.

I have to stop being such a pansy and get the strengthen started again.

Time on roller a complete misery.

Note

Physio visit. Everything hurts. Hopping hesitant and weird, despite being confident and springy the night before.

All around grumbly and left feeling ouchy and inflamed and awful.

Am under strict instructions to 'be good'.

Swimming 24:00 [3] 1.2 km (20:00 / km)

Regular sort of a warm up, just very long and a couple of hundred metres with flippers as my shoulders refused to loosen up and play for ages.

Then lots and lots of fast 50m, focussing on timing and rhythm.

Felt pretty much like a god of swimming when I got out of the pool, which was nice, but completely unrelated to reality.
8 PM

Physio (all of it) 40:00 [1]
shoes: Barefoot

All the strengthening for all of the bits. Lots of shoulder stretching.

cycling (MTB) 1:45:00 [3]
shoes: Giant Hybrid

They made me go up Gungin. Bastards.

Otherwise had a really, really good time. Knees packed it in, as ever.

Just about had enough of doing this on flat pedals on a "comfort" MTB. Probably time to invest in a proper bike.
8 PM

Physio (roller) 10:00 [0]

ITB exercises and MF-ing roller. Woe.
