Orienteering (Belair - control placing) 30:00 [3]

Bits and pieces with Dad putting out controls for tomorrow's event. Probably 30 mins of jogging over 2 hours of control placement. There are lots of unmapped termite mounds and rocks out there, and vegetation has changed a bit. Good fun though.
6 PM

Run (Hawthorndene/Glenalta) 36:00 [3]

Ran around the streets in the dark without a headtorch, incorporating lots of hills.

Note
(rest day)

Knew that I shouldn't try to do too much this week, but kinda felt like going for a run. A couple of ciders at the local with my workmates at beer-o-clock solved the dilemma for me.

Run (Belair) 31:00 [3]

Wow - it was tough keeping up with Jen and co. Quite happy to turn for home at the trainline. Nice, cool night for a run.

Run (Olave Hill/Belair) 1:00:00 [3]

First long run for ages! I was study-bound today and T went to ride with friends at Craigberms *sniff*, then J told me about plans for a lovely drive in the hills to go to a winery for lunch *sniff-sniff* and I was getting resentful of my computer when Zed told me she was off on a run up Olave Hill - would I like to join her? Yes! The least time consuming thing to do on a study day! So I ran towards her place (now just around the corner) and found her and Callum galloping down the hill. I managed a really slow jog (walking pace) up the hill, but I didn't really need to stop which I was surprised at. We had to run back for a bit when we had to return another dog that adopted us to some walkers. Then down the powerlines in the park to Long Gully kiosk, back along the creek to the railway dam, then back up the hill to the gate at the top of the golf course where Z left me to run some more and I headed for home along Upper Sturt Road. I ran into Jen and George on their way to the winery - I wonder if they picked up on how cheery I was to have managed a 1 hour run. :)

Strength Training 24:00 [2]

Had meant to go for a run, but by the time Tyson and I got some firewood down and got our first fire going in the combustion heater going it was dark and cold outside, and warm and bright inside, so I made my decision.

Strength Training 25:00 [2]

Mostly lower core and calves/quads/hamstrings.

Run (Hawthorndene) 31:00 [3]

Felt much better than yesterday. First run in the freezing cold (I know it's nothing compared to the northern winter, but 8 degrees felt frosty).

Note

Saw the XC races at Craigberms as I ran past - looked packed! Made me want to get back on the MTB soon... :)

Run (Blackwood) 43:00 [3]

Went along to the start of the 3hr rogaine/orienteering gig at Eden Hills with Tyson, but decided it wasn't a good idea to actually team up with Tyson as planned after just one run in 11 days of being couch-bound and sick. However, with the remnants of several nasty viruses finally gone, I decided to run home, via our old loop through Magpie Gully, then through Blackwood Forest. Legs felt weak and lungs lacked any fitness. Felt ok for 20 minutes, then got progressively worse after 30 minutes, having to stop a couple of times for rests. It's going to take a long time to get my fitness back!
