Maximus WRE middle El Hoyo de Pinares. Enjoyed it, tricky but doing alright until number 10. I passed it 6 times without seeing as it was so hidden in rocks/green. Dad had trouble with same control. Good again after. Map easier to read today at 1:10000. Early start due to only having 2/5 world ranking scores (only been 1 races in Britain since 2019), job done of at least adding a 3rd today.

Maximus long distance El Barraco. Some good, some learning generated. Up against it with high standard of competition, most of which have been out training here all week and I haven’t been in a forest outside of Scotland for over 2 years. Tricky/different terrain but fun and the sun is shining (plus fresh paella at the finish). Used a magnifier today for the first time as map so intricate and has the added fun of 1:15000 scale, took a bit of getting used to as felt my direction was a bit off to begin with but worth using in such a situation in the future.

Real mañana feels after delays at every point in the journey but arrived in Spain and onto the model map before it was dark. Trying to acclimatise to the sunshine after snow this morning and getting a feel for the crazy rocky terrain.

More orienteering in a wood, quite fun apart from 3 dogs jumping on me. The stream crossings were interesting and took 3 attempts to get up one banking.
