Cycle from Inverey to bridge near Altanour Lodge, along Glen Ey. Gradual uphill all the way and howling headwind didn’t help! Lots of evidence of Storm Agnes - flood lines at least 3-4 feet above streams plus some pastures flooded across track.
Out 54, back 25!! and that with minimal pedalling on return - just sat up on lots and let the wind take me.

Should be walking for about half!
Started near Altanour Lidge and headed on quad bike track to west then cut off and to col that drops to River Tarf. Headwind all the way and just plodded along, didn’t want to burn out too soon!
Up to Lochan Uaine, lovely wee Lochan tucked in below north slopes of Beinn Iucharn Mhor. Up to col 1010m) then down to south col and traversed east below Mam Nan Carn and another drop to Loch Nan Eun. More traversing to north of Carn á Chlarsaich to col south of An Socach. Brutal climb up - at least a wee path all the way - then east along ridge, a real mess of bits of path and scree and gravel fields. Dropped diagonally down to pick up north spur (Creag an Fhuathais) and along this - best going of the day but legs pretty spent by now- to high point at 850m. Cut back and down to west through some scree slopes and desperately steep heather/grass slopes to bike. Pretty screwed but knew the return ride was downhill AND wind assisted :-)
Good day out, was really uncertain if I would manage it with the wind but it was not too bad, maybe dropped a bit during the run. 5DR checkpoints, so only 18 to go now!
Wild life, several red grouse (including a group of a dozen that walked for about 100m before flying off), an owl - big and light coloured - Tawny? 2 Mountain hare and 2 Ptarmigan (already turning white…). No red deer though I met a shooter at the lodge at Inverey who had got his stag, so was very happy!
