forest run 50:00 [3]

same loop as yesterday more or less, some bits fast. knee still rickety. rest day or two called for!

Wednesday Sep 29, 2004 #

forest run 57:55 [2]

couple of loops on the side of the plateau. gentle cause my right knee is still rickety - feels like it might want to collapse inwards or seize up or something. location of funny sensation is outer (right side and towards the rear... not anywhere the kneecap... if it is not better by friday will take fri and sat off before racing sunday.

Tuesday Sep 28, 2004 #

forest run 1:24:47 [2]

orsay loop. slow on rough or hilly bits becuase rigth knee is rickety. too many days in a row of rough, fastish running last week. grrr

Sunday Sep 26, 2004 #

orienteering 1:01:28 [5] 9.0 km (6:50 / km)
spiked:19/26c

Bois de la Madeleine.

Enjoyed it again, not particularly (at all) technical... couple of bad routes and three consecutive errors approaching controls cost me the race. Blister hurt lots from halfway around. winner Gasnot ran 59 something. grr

forest run 20:00 [2]

warm-up plus putting out a few balisettes

orienteering 29:23 [4]

rocher salamandre, entrainement avec Balise77
relais finlandais
didn't have a teammate, so ran the (short, easy) courses backwards and forwards. had a break halfway. Last loop i took it easy which is why the intensity drops to a four... running against hugues the first and third loops.

orienteering 39:00 [3]

rocher salamandre, after the relay
score event witha difference - no flags, only taped, but taped at several locations around the control site - must choose the correct one and take down the code
nice idea. unfortunately a couple of tapes had been removed which led to some minutes being lost. also, dry (old) oshoes caused blister on right heel :( time pressure meant couldn't do very much.

some really nice bits on this map... really enjoyed running around here. nearly worth the 6 hours away from home...

forest run 1:16:00 [3]

orsay loop, with 1:15 Tqkqs 5dqy mqp

not pushing at all, surprised i did it in the same time as the last day given i had the map with me... did take a slight shortcut at the far end i suppose

Thursday Sep 23, 2004 #

running 46:00 [3]

5 laps Cite, not quite boring yet! again, running fastish with relaxed upper body. a bit harder on the legs because (i think) i'm a little lower down witha better stride...

Wednesday Sep 22, 2004 #

forest run 39:00 [3]

Orsay,
three (slighlty extende upwards) hill loops plus there and back - i went up to the top instead of turning 25 seconds earlier

felt it in the calves afterwards. definitely missed out on the hill-training over the summer. looking forward to getting back in shape!!

Tuesday Sep 21, 2004 #

forest run 1:16:00 [3]

back in paris. run from orsay, usual loop (more or less)... felt good... arms were really loose running, which is a good sign (?)

Saturday Sep 18, 2004 #

orienteering 45:00 [2]

post middle final run on a badly printed map. one huge mistake. nice area but wasn't particularly in the mood.

Thursday Sep 16, 2004 #

orienteering 1:40:00 [3] 11.0 km (9:05 / km) +475m 7:29 / km

women's Classic Final (WOC)
ran it early afternoon... took it easy, few small errors - on the whole v happy. lost motivation to go at a decent pace in (or before) the butterfly section.

really enjoyable orienteering (compass free!)

Wednesday Sep 15, 2004 #

orienteering 14:44 [5] 2.7 km (5:27 / km) +75m 4:47 / km

Sprint Qualie, Rocklunda/Apalby

one route choice mistake on the way to 2 (30 seconds), slowed downa bit too much on controls 7, 9, 10... otherwise, not running fast enough - slowest split (!) across the field.

Happy with run. Winner did about 12, qualifying time was maybe 13.20, upset to be so far off it... lots of work to di for next year...

forest run 15:00 [3]

warm up for sprint

Tuesday Sep 14, 2004 #

orienteering 26:00 [4]

Sprint Model after an 11 minute wqrm up. one error on one of the extra contols :(

Monday Sep 13, 2004 #

orienteering 41:03 [5] 4.7 km (8:44 / km) +135m 7:38 / km

Middle Qualie.

Went safe to the first - lost a bit of time but not as much as many others...
second went a bit off bearing but knew how to catch myself. third was going for what looked like an easy control... doh... went past it at least twice before relocating properly and even then found it with some difficulty. overshot the fourth. stupid mistake at the eigth... apart from all that it wasn't a bad run :(

bloody atrocious. retrospectively, i think the week without orienteering (or even running) did me harm...

forest run 15:00 [3]

warm up

Sunday Sep 12, 2004 #

orienteering 10.9 km ( / km) +290m / km

Woc classic qualie

thought i ran very well up until the 7th control where i got lost, very lost. not sure how... thought i had a big obvious attackpoint... lost 12 minutes... so i didn't push too hard for the rest of the race. legs still don't have any oomph after the cold...

discovered at the finish that there was a fourth control i didn't go to, right beside the third... it was an easy leg and would even have made the fifth control easier, so only gained twenty seconds by not going to it... what a spa i am.

forest run 20:00 [3]

warm-up plus 1km run to start

Saturday Sep 11, 2004 #

orienteering 32:00 [2]

WOC Middle Model, Paradiset

a few errors - still coughing up some gank

Friday Sep 10, 2004 #

orienteering 36:00 [3]

woc classic model, brudsoljan (dammsjon)

after the first control went very well... no strength in legs though. didn't start coughing until the 8th control

Monday Sep 6, 2004 #

Note

cold.

hanging out in andrew's

Sunday Sep 5, 2004 #

Note

unsurprisingly, picked up cold thursday evening, it got worse during map walk... and afternoon... paying price. no training saturday or today. was getting rid of it, then left the hostel to go back to andrew's... had to wait outside fot three hours... not good

Friday Sep 3, 2004 #

Note

map walk for thirty-five minute on Brudslöjan map. Technicallissimo

understood it for the most part.

orienteering 25:00 [2]

ran/jogged a couple of controls after the map-walk. messed em up too. scary place.

orienteering 57:00 [3]

northern part of Brudslöjan this time (after lunch). maybe ten controls, pretty technical. first too had a bit of trouble with. lots of interpretation to be done.

moss is really slippy without a full set of dobb spikes. glad i bought the new shoes!! white moss is to be approached with care. marshes are wet and streams are full.

Mike Smith here too, Cherie M taking the afternoon off. Have to make alternate transport arrangements tomorrow.

Thursday Sep 2, 2004 #

orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Course on golf course map, Surahammar. 1:10, good middle training area. north part of map. pretty clean. Two seconds faster than the hour actually!

running 20:00 [2]

5 minute warm up and then run back after... cold and wet so not really a warm down!

Wednesday Sep 1, 2004 #

orienteering 10:00 [2]

warm up map for ifk lidingö sprint champs!! made a couple of mistakes!?!

orienteering 20:54 [5] 2.66 km (7:51 / km)

IFK Lidingö Sprint Champs...

7th place. Näsman ran 17:15 to win. a little sloppy at times. need to tighten up in the next week and a bit. technical course.
Nich mulder beat me by 40 seconds :( on the plus side i beat the girls!!
