Note

Does a relocated dislocated thumb need to be seen by professionals?

xc skiing is so much more dangerous than downhill
11 AM

skiing 30 [2] 5.18 km (6 / km) +77m 5 / km

Slept in the hammock on the edge of Wimmis, close to the finish. Not *too* cold. Police were called on me in the morning, so they came by at 9.15, more or less waking me up. The wanted to know why I wasn't sleeping in my car or a hotel or something. I replied that it was pretty where I was. They still wanted to see my papers. Good news is, sleeping there is authorised, so I may return :)

Drove up the pretty Simmental, bought some cured meat and cheese, continued to Saanenmöse where I found some xc tracks, unfortunately. Because five minutes after paying for the daily pass, I wobbled down a hill, skis crossed and my thumb popped out of its socket. I popped it back in, finished the loop which took a while and applied some ice.

Boots weren't tight enough, so I had little control. Stupid shoe manufacturers.

CO de nuit! Well, Nacht-OL. Big mistake to the first, then just not very fast after that, couple of small mistakes. Nice out. Light went into survival mode three controls from the end.

Still haven't felt hungry. Snacked at 5 and skipped dinner in the evening.

running 52:00 [3] 5.15 km (10:05 / km) +385m 7:21 / km

Jukola training.

Fancy hotel has 1.90m long beds with head and foot boards. Went to bed before eleven, but the lunchtime fondue was still weighing heavily with a five-course dinner on top, so wasn't sleeping wonderfully. By 3 I was sleeping diagonally across the two single beds. 3.30 I try to turn on the light, but because I'm diagonal, I don't find the wall. Swing my arm back, hit my glass of water, it breaks, glass and water on bed and floor. I switch to the other diagonal.

Didn't sleep much before I arose and went for a night run. Ski slopes were a pretty fantastic running surface. Dawn happened and was pretty. Showered and slept for another hour or two when I got back. Shower screen doesn't stop water flooding the bathroom. Shower holder was droopy. So much for classy 4* hotels. Though the spa downstairs is pretty great.
1 PM

skiing 2:30 [3]

Highest point was 3,500. Village is around 1800. Avoided frostbite. Nice afternoon.
