Running 52:18 [3] 10.1 km (5:11 / km) +70m 5:00 / km

The island and a tunnel of scent. Lightning bugs ping, 3 or 4 rabbits hop. Great movement pattern to see.

Relax warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Calm and stretch.

Running 48:00 [3] 9.5 km (5:03 / km) +50m 4:55 / km

Easy run after a lot of gardening. Cleaned weeds out of wildfower garden bed. Put good (intended) plants in water so that they make roots. Gardening as survival.

Relax warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Get over the stiff garden back.Feels like I sense how it well feel when the time comes when I have to run and garden less, when I get old. Maybe until then the garden grows by itself and less running would mean more time for production of cultural important artefacts. Like writing a book about running and the haiku flashes of a runner.

Running 52:00 [3] 10.1 km (5:09 / km) +70m 4:59 / km

A loop of running with haikus popping up in my mind.

Relax 20:00 [1]

Feels good and eases pain.

Orienteering 1:12:11 [3] ** 12.0 km (6:01 / km) +300m 5:21 / km

Trail map run on USGS/hiking map at Hubbard/Fahnestock. Yellow trail through the Glynwood. I encounter a herd of pointy straight horned almost white cow. Not Swiss cows, definitely not. They look at me like I was a cow and don't move. So I move and go through the ditch. Next thing, the trail changes into a knee deep grass covered trace of a trail. Itch. Swell. Got to get through. Reach the woods and have a cool run down to stream, pond and up on the blue trail.

Hit pond
blue iris circle
burns brain blank.

The haiku of the day, dedicated to a dazzling flowery surprise in the middle of the woods at a small pond.

Relax warm up/down 10:00 [1]

All day writing tenses up my neck or whatever the reason, it doesn't matter, because my magic cure makes juices flow again.
Still impressed by the 4 pounds of strawberries from my garden. Always amazed to eat something that has grown out of my own soil and under my own work. The sense of being a little farmer. Or non-alienated food with a minimum amount of 20 meters of traveling between harvest and kitchen. And good. Amazingly good. Great.

Running 1:12:00 [3] 10.6 km (6:48 / km) +400m 5:43 / km

Run up Mt. Beacon to reservoir, sneak along the north side trail to old casino. The trail gets narrow in the summer, lots of ducking and bushswishing. Take a few pictures of sleeping rocks in the glowing sunset light.
The woods are dense and green now, almost giving an indoor feeling.

Relax warm up/down 12:00 [1]

Realignment and resassignment of muscles connective tissues. In other words: Relax, breath, loosen up.

Running 53:00 [3] 10.1 km (5:15 / km) +70m 5:04 / km

Just jogging around the island, watching rabbits play in grass and listening to weird screetching bird fly away.

Relax 15:00 [1]

Stretching feels so good I go on for a while until flying state is achieved and the muscles start to sizzle with energy. Almost.

Running 52:01 [3] 10.1 km (5:09 / km) +70m 4:59 / km

I find a hole in the very consistent rain coverage today. Run to the river, curve around the island and the puddles along the way. Rain is good for the garden, so I don't mind.
Add Rudbeckia seedlings to the field of summer flowers. The rainy weather helps them to grow in. They are very hardy plants but don't like transplanting. Strawberries are almost ready for consumption. Need to discuss sharing of the berries with the resident bird flock, though.

Relax warm up/down 12:00 [1]

Have a stiff neck since yesterday's race and a headache. Did I hit my head on a marsh at Tourne? Or is it the new found honor and duty of being a real elected club president? Anyway, stretching and breathing helps. Once restored, I hit the store. They had an excellent ice cream special. Fried icecream, special edition. I had to explore this cultural phenomenon. The test was positive & calls for more. (And yes, you healthy eaters: I bought vegetables, fruit and other nutrionally approved stuff, too.)
