GNA skate clinic - just me and Bob Lux.
Cold and breezy - some drills and technique work and a bit of skiing around.

Cold hike - car said 22f when I started. Base of the Carriage Road, up the west side of Gunstock. Stopped at the deck of the Panorama Pub for a few minutes. Over to Belknap, then Piper and down the Red Trail.

Saw more hikers than I expected. 1 woman with dog about half way up Gunstock. A couple where the Overlook and Blue Trails meet the Saddle Trail from Gunstock. A woman on top of Piper, didn';t want to go back down the Red Trail as it was "crazy icy", asked how the Orange Trail was. Told her it was icy on the ledges, not to bad elsewhere. She had on Kahtoola microspikes, versus my low-end small studs in a slip on rubber piece. After I went down the Red Trail, think it was less icy than the Orange trail...
Then a family of four coming up the Red Trail as i was almost to the bottom, with a mother and young daughter a little behind them.

Thermometer on the Belknap tower said 25f - felt colder than that.

So - they had some HS sprint races going on today, taking up the stadium, Dryfire, Aim and Nock. Had snowed in Cobble up to the top, so Longbow was full accessible, as was Quiver and Broadhead. Just need a couple more connectors in place.
Quite a bit of back and forth, some good work on V2 on gradual uphills.
Back on 165s today. If there hadn't been so many folks around would have brought my 170s over and swapped back and forth to see which I prefer.

Just after dark ski at Gunstock. Hard and fast, with a few uneven pieces thrown in to make it exciting.

Not a lot of options, but enough of the race trails snowed in to make it interesting. A couple of sections not quite ready for prime time - a work in progress.

Went with the 170 poles - been using 165s since last year. Gets the hands higher, a longer stroke - not sure if that's good or bad. Took a few minutes to get sued to it again, also brings my gloves up into the headlamp beam for some flash back to my eyes.
