Running 50:02 [2] 6.28 mi (7:58 / mi)

A run at lunchtime, with other people! Howie was going to run, so I was going to have someone to run with. Then it turned out he arranged to meet Dave, Mike W and John B. It was great to not go alone.

I had the HR strap, but not the Garmin, so the rough route is here.

We did some back-and-forth looking for Howie, and the Highland Park is a poor approximation, to get the distance about right.

Time-constrained at [late] lunch as I had to be back for a 2pm meeting, so I did a quick treadmill workout.

10 min w/up
Tempo (8.5mph): 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 3 min, 2 min, 1 min (@8.8)
with 1 min recovery after each
7 min w/dn, including 4 x 20 second strides (2 @ 8.5; 2 @ 8.8).

HR did not register on the treadmill. Perhaps the Garmin strap is not polar-compatible? But I also tried to use the hand grip after the second 3 min T and that didn't record a HR either, so perhaps the treadmill was broken.

Unplanned rest day. I was planning on training at the Penfield Y during the Sabres game, but when I left work after 7:30pm, I realized that the Y had Time Warner Cable, so the Sabres game wouldn't be on there, either, since there is now the MSG-TWC dispute to go with last year's MSG-Dish dispute that precludes me seeing the Sabres at our house.

So, I just went home and ate dinner instead.

Couldn't get myself out the door while the weather was nice - was busy coding my new Andriod app, "HoopStats" to track stats during basketball games. By the time I was willing to quit, the weather had turned too nasty.

Running 23:54 intensity: (15:54 @2) + (8:00 @4) 3.0 mi (7:58 / mi)

Just enough time for the Beacon Hills loop before the Bills game. Ran easy the first mile, then did 8 x 1 min hard / 1 min easy. Hard probably averaged a bit faster than tempo.
