Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Run to start of mornings exercise

Orienteering 55:31 [4]

A rerun of the US middle champs a few years ago on a map called Rockhouse, in beautiful Harriman state park which is this massive wilderness area. All the trees have just lost their leaves so its this beautiful cold winter wilderness with lots of rocks and open areas. and mountain laurel which managed to tear my tights to shreads haha

I took ages, but by about control 9 think i could actually work out what i was doing and managed to navigate properly to some of the controls.

its marshy, and rocky and very green in places, but with lots of open runability

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

park to the parking lot, where there were so many cars! b/c you arent allowed to park by the side of the road. food time!

Orienteering 1:45:00 [3]

Training Two for the day:

On Shoebridge map, which is adjacent to the other one, but with slightly bigger hills and larger distances! Line exercise and then i sort of wandered back via the last controls on a much bigger course, pretty shattered and i havent done two full on trainings a day for a while. I appreciated Ian's motivating music though, and may have had Last of the Mohicans in my head the whole way.

It got cold, im such a wimp coming from summer. apparently this is really warm, cry.

Dropped back to New Haven by Ian and Brendan, managed to see quite a lot of Conneticut by night after we got lost haha

Orienteering 1:30:00 [4]

US orienteering time! I had got in contact with some orienteers who were getting together and training in Peekshill, upstate New York on the Hudson river. Decided I was bored of hanging by myself in New Haven, so got myself on a train (with a few delays after my apartments plumbing decided to break at 11pm at night), and turned up on Neil's doorstep. Hudson river is beautiful, and Blue Mountain map is right next to Neil's house. The others had just come back from a morning training, but in the afternoon the plan was to do a rerun of the 2002 Billygoat, which is this long mass-start race where you can drop a control. I started and then realised i had no idea how to navigate through everything so ran round in circles for a bit, and decided to just go for a highly modified version of the race...

It gets dark by 4.30, so about 4.15 you have to start thinking about getting yourself to something vaguely urban. interesting how quickely you cool down after running though, wish i had my puffer so i could wear it with my ski jacket hahaha.

awesome terrain and cool people :) good days journey.

Running (Warm Down ) 10:00 [3]

Running 45:05 [3] 6.24 km (7:13 / km)

Morning jog towards Westville area to do some exploring on the recommendation of some of the roomates. Found a small hill! and then ran past a school that said it was founded in 1664 which is fairly impressive. Otherwise it is so flat around here, makes a nice change for tired legs. There don't seem to be many people around during the day, im guessing they all go into dowtown area to work so its really quiet.

Planning an expedition to downtown once i've had breakfast and worked out how the bus system works.

Running 30:00 [1]

walk/ jog around my new nieghbourhood! i dont really want to venture too far untill ive talked to some people about where is good (read:safe), and the no sleep for the last 40hrs is finally getting to me i think! going to go and find a gym tomorrow though. and i have sourced myself a bicycle which makes everything much easier!! as long as it doesnt snow. id rather bike these streets than walk.
