It's been several days since I quieted my head and it's shown. Feeling these last few out of sorts and even depressed yesterday. There is a palpable imbalance and tendency to melancholy that happens when I am not diligent. Even with so little as I have done, I feel better when I do.

Hard floor and my head difficult to control. Less leaping around and more just diffuse and finding myself thinking of something else. A lot of meta thought too. What I am going to do later, say later, write later. Silly.

Poor sleep and generally under the weather following a Christmas Eve party with the other foreign teachers. No beer [sadly] since eliminating glutens from the diet so it's a steady infusion of vodka and wine. It's the second night that we have had alcohol since this change and I haven' yet gotten the hang of celebrating with spirits and wine. I have to say that I am much more fond of nursing a beer than a cold shot of vodka.

Woke up a few times through the night with post test anxiety. Debating at least twice in the night about getting up, turning on the computer and checking whether the score posted. It's a good thing that I didn't. I would have been non-plussed at 3am and then never gotten back to sleep.

Difficulties getting to sleep and intermittently disrupted.

Temperature and humidity drop last night. Skin dry and tender but not as bad as a few days ago. Why so bad on some days and not others?

- Moisturizers? I was out a few days ago...when esp. bad
- Better sleep? Saturday was the 'woah nelly this hurts' day following two seven hour nights of sleep.
- School stress. I was putting in a lot of last minute work for the module

It's a wonder what enough sleep and 76% humidity [vs yesterdays 36%] will do to my skin. The dryness and the poor choice to wear old synthetic longjohns was a disaster to my skin. I noticed that the cloth had worn through the skin and caused me a number of small abrasions. It's what I felt all day long as I taught. So bad and painful that it was difficult to remain 'present' in my classes.

Two days w/ seven [alarm interrupted] hours and I'm feeling it.

Skin is in real bad shape. The weather has turned a sharp, dry cold and my skin is really in sorry shape. This is as about as bad as it gets. Today's spicy lunch surely won't help.

Ten hours again. I don't know if this is good or not. We have been reading lately about how necessary a long healthy sleep is in the paleo-verse but this is pretty intense. Still, I feel rested.

East Laoshan to the Mtn Bike Park and home. Sluggish after about 10 minutes, hitting walls at 15:00, 19:00 and 22:00. Contemplated a walk home but pushed on and just finished. Good days, bad days.

Spontaneously tense and my mind pre-occupied. So much so that I was startled at the end. I am distracted and unfocused. I can feel it and the session only makes me more aware of it.

On Sunday, Hannah and I stared out at the weird white haze that made seeing even a block away difficult. It looked like a "white out" from inside a blizzard but as it turns out it's just the pollution. So bad that they had to reroute and cancel more than 200 flights at the airport on Monday.

Began this in a pair of Keds with the intention to just jog hike my way around the neighborhood and Olympic hill but never really slowed down. Had a particularly good time on the Olympic bike mountain bike trails on the north side of the hill, pounding through the narrow trails and intermittent stone paths.

Running trails is a blast. Enough so that I yanked, halfway through, my earbuds out so that I could listen to the sound of my breathing and the swoosh of evergreen limbs as I wound around the corners. More please.

More relaxation preliminaries. My head was a little hyperactive. Overstuffed with what is on my plate at the moment but my bodies gets to a state of relaxation, a warm generalized state, sooner than ever. I think it's a little progress.

Hard push/sprints to the Electrical Grid office to recharge our card after the power went out. Arrived at 5:56pm only to find out that they are, in fact, open 24 hours. Hey, you got something to drink in here? Oh never mind and a walk home.

More on the hard floor. Working up from my feet, relaxing a little at a time. Awareness of the contact between the hard plane of the floor and contact with my body. Feel better for hours afterward. Amazing what a little focus of relaxation has.

Feeling better today. Much less congested and ill. Drinking a daily morning bowl of 'bone broth'. Chicken bones and feet this week. Last week was lamb. Wondering if the vitamins in the marrow are making me more resilient.

Also, the last two nights we haven't been using the Magnesium Citrate to rest and the difference is palpable. I don't rest quite so deeply and wake in my usual groggy self.
