classic ski (Mono) 45:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Goose dropped me off at Mono then took Tman out for breakfast while I skied. There was a lovely layer of powdery fresh snow on top of the re-frozen base. The classic skiing was really nice.

skate ski (Mono) 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

After a classic loop I thought I had time for a skate. I did the shorter red loop and thought I was moving pretty fast. I was working hard. But I was slow?? New snow? It was nice though.

skate ski (Glen Haffy) 1:50:00 [3]

Crust cruise :) Didn't want to drive all the way to O'ville again so I stopped at Glen Haffy to check out the big open fields. Sure enough, the temps had dropped just enough to make a crust that held me up. and there were couple of centimetres of fresh snow - a wee skiff - on top. I had fun just flying wherever I wanted. An hour and 1/2 of steady skiing around every field, then 20 minutes of stability/agility, legs only. Didn't see a soul.

skate ski hills (Mono) 1:05:00 [4] 16.0 km (4:04 / km)

Another almost-slush-but-still-iceballs ski. I can't believe how well they have managed to hang on to at least some snow. The base is still a thick layer of ice with a soft layer on top. Orangeville got some snow today too so where Ross had dragged the trail and mixed in the soft new snow with the slushy ice balls it was not bad. Dirty snow but not rock skiing. Where he hadn't been though it was literally like a wet blanket had been thrown over the trail - so slow!! Worked hard - did seveal hill repeats trying to hop skate. It was a good ski and apart from the elementary school class that was just finishing, I saw no one else.

yoga (classes) 1:45:00 [3]

Two classes of yoga to de-stress kids before exams. Last day of semester 1 classes.
Can't run - tried at lunch but the ankle/heel just isn't better. Can't ski cause there's no snow. But there is ice, so biking isn't really suitable around here anyway. Never mind the damp, drizzly stuff. So I'm reduce to walking - in the rain. In January :(. It's just not right.

skate ski (Highlands) 2:00:00 [3] 26.0 km (4:37 / km)

Nice steady ski in fog, on corny, mostly "dirty" snow like yesterday. Considering all the mild damp weather the snow was quite good really. I wasn't slogging at all. It was a good recovery ski. The first 40 minutes with Goose:). He's feeling a bit better and with his custom "blinders" that he fashioned for his sunglasses he avoids too much peripheral visual disturbance. He skis on the more open sections and does ok. There were some lovely "clean" stretches out the back where the snow was like a thin layer of sugar on a crusty base - sweet skiing there.
