Discussion: Compass loan/rental

Hi DVOA people,

I normally live literally on the other side of the planet, but I'm in town for this event - is it possible to borrow/rent a northern hemisphere compass? I don't use one very much, but I was bringing a friend along as well and I'd like to show them how The Real Orienteers do things. :D

Club has rental compasses you can borrow at every event. Ask for one at registration. Usually, they are Silva base-plate compasses

Ah, if it was in Florida and you came to a Suncoast Orienteering event telling us you needed a northern declination compass we would 'comp' you it. We are REALLY friendly to foreign visitors who just might end up being featured on our website and Facebook page.

Based on the DVOA website, this is a Borrow, not a rental…

Yeah, conflicting info on that FAQ page ($1 to rent vs or free to borrow) that should be fixed, but I believe post-Covid they're free to borrow, indeed!
