Discussion: Important - Blocked SPORTident Windows driver

Windows has started blocking older software drivers. See Microsoft announcement here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/the-wi.... This affects the SPORTident specific CP210x driver which is installed along with SI-Config+

SPORTident has a work-around that I’ve tested (because I was locked out), and it works well. It is described here: https://docs.sportident.com/products/stations/usb-...

Two extra notes:
- Regardless of CPU type (Arm/Intel/AMD), download the Universal Windows Driver
- You will need to repeat from step 2 for each unique BSM7/BSM8 that you use on that computer.

Our club laptops only run Windows 10. As I understand it, since W10 is not being updated, this issue won't affect them. Good to know for the future, since we are replacing them.

Eric, thanks for the timely posting! Plugged in my reader today for the first time in while, and the blocking message appeared. You saved me, very likely, hours of angst.

Hi all - SPORTident has released an updated driver that works just like the original. It can be found here: https://www.sportident.com/products/usb-driver.

Note that SI-Config+ still comes with the old driver, but a new version of SI-Config+ will be released in the next few weeks.

@Eric, so all we need to do is install the driver, no need to roll back, or delete the 'temp fix' driver that we installed

All - SPORTident has released a new version of the SPORTident SI-Config+ program. This one does NOT include a driver, but warns you if you need the new driver and provides a link for easy download. It works well and is very painless - and the driver test and warning is super useful. Download here: https://www.sportident.com/products/sportident-con... . Your current version of SI-Config+ will also tell you that there's a new version and offer to download it.
