According to Ken, the second user to enter a training log was Boris, on March 9, 2000. Let's celebrate 10 years of log entries by crowning an AP Top Ten Log Entries list.

Nominate your favorite entries here. Deadline is the end of the day on March 9 th (at 2359 GMT). Top ten entries will be chosen by a Judge. Judge will have sole authority to decide the winning criteria. The Judge is an AP user (not me and not Spike).

One of my favorite's is Nadim's entry from 30 Dec 2002. He trained at the Great Pyramids in Giza. I was so jealous, and inspired to one day visit a cool location and log it on AP.

From irharding 10/14/06 While on Kilimanjaro
Toothbrushing etc(HA) 10:00 [3]
ahr:140

High altitude actvities such as toothbrushing, stuffing sleepingbag in stuffsack, rolling up Thermarest mat , going for a sh*t ,all of which at above 18,000 feet of altitude are extreme exertion and leave one panting and out of breath . (Note : this entry is limited to above 18,000 above mean sea level)

Steps:
1. Find the log entry of the user you wish to cite
2. Modify the URL to read /user_X/period-y/enddate-YYYY-MM-DD

Note that X should equal whatever the user's ID is, and I like to use y as a parameter - e.g. iriharding's week included the ascent to Kilimanjaro's summit, which is pretty cool. y = 1 is probably optimal for this forum.

Which Taxman story(ies) to include?

And didn't some of Swampfox's best entries get deleted when he /rQ or whatever?

Well, this was easy. No judge needed to determine that the Top Two AP Entries belong to Nadim and Ian :)

give the deadline a month? you might get more..

Sure, I'll extend the deadline, if there's interest. If we get a few more posts here, I'll consider that a sign, and create a new deadline. If there are no new posts, then maybe it is because we are all concentrating on adding new posts for the next 10 years :)

OK I'll nominate the following because I doubt there is another post on AP the last 10 years with a better individual result than this (WOC 2nd place).

Swisschesse on Friday Aug 12, 2005
Orienteering race 2:44:00 [5] 29 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther with Spikes 1

WOC Long distance. Troubles getting really into the race. The longer the race went on, the better I felt... with a superb 2nd place looking out at the end!

I'll second that.

hammer, not a 'better' result (another WOC 2nd), but there's always the modest entry bySwisscheese on Aug 2, 2006:

Orienteering race 1:46:00 [5] 17.2 km (6:10 / km) +880m 4:54 / km
shoes: VJ Panther with Spikes 2

WOC Long distance. Well, a little shaky start... no control searching but slow orienteering. Didn't expect to have to deal so much with the green. But after the first 1/3 of the race slowly my rusty brain loosened up and I started to surf... nice run from there on. Did a smaller and a bigger mistakes after the spectator control... the only ones besides bad route choices... that is a good race :-).
