At 10am this morning seeing Evan off. I felt like I was at the Australian snowfields with a cold wind and light drizzle. Discovered later it was 4 degrees. No wonder.

Hmm. Having difficulty relating. Current 'feels like' in Darwin is reputedly 41c right now, owing to a startlingly high dew point, which claims to be 28c at the moment. Blair, do these seem like realistic figures?

No. I'd guess the wet bulb thermometer ran out of water, which happens occasionally (although it's a surprise to see it happen at a Bureau-staffed station).

Did I see evidence of wet bulb thermometer freesing during the recent -4 event? One of the BOM stations had a drop out of wet bulb readings for a morning.

Quite possible. Most of the sites that are susceptible to sub-zero temperatures are equipped with humidity probes rather than wet bulb ones, but not all of them are.
