I guess I could belong, too, but I have less than no interest. My Gt-Gt-Gt-Gt-grandfather, one Paul DeWeese was in the Revolutionary war, according to family archives.

I'm not sure if my mom found any Revolutionary warriors (perhaps she has and I wasn't paying attention), for DAR membership, but they wouldn't want me. :-)

Samuel Chapin is recognized as a founder, with a statue in a park near the Springfield Library. I think he's about 14 generations back from me.

Glen pointed out that I mis-read; you have to be a direct male descendent to be in the society. No females in the line allowed. Chauvinists.

Among their other misguided notions. Some noble war for liberation. When old Paul died, his young son my three x great grandfather Peter was sold off as an indentured servant to pay off the old man's debts.

I make it with several of 1630 era, so piece of cake, but about the good moral character bit? Wonder what that means in this day and age?
