Running 22:45 [3] 5.7 km (3:59 / km) +137m 3:34 / km
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

Athletics Victoria Coliban Ekidon Relay
The race is a 42km relay from Harcourt to Bendigo. I got drafted into the div 2 team for Traralgon Harriers. You could not have got a much worse day- 8degrees, raining and a strong northerly. The first leg was 5.7km and mostly uphill and into the wind the whole way. This leg probably suited me the best but I can't say I really enjoyed it. I tired to warm up properly but running in a singlet meant I couldn't feel my arms by the end of the race with all the blood going to my legs. I got dropped straight away and ran the whole way on my own which was disappointing. I actually felt like I was running really slow but I'm not that disappointed with the time.

Running 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

I waited for Kathryn, who started in 20mins later. I had to keep jogging the whole time to try and stay warm. Then we ran back to Harcourt. I feel really good now, probably due to being downwind and downhill. I'm a bit sorry we didn't go and support the teams to the finish but frankly being warm and eating was far more appealing.

MTB Cycling 1:46:23 [3] 19.0 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: Merida Ninety-Six Team

Nice evening ride with Kathryn from Moir Rd, NW edge of South Moe Plantations. I pulled the Merida out of the box and replaced the red dirt of FNQ with the sticky mud of Gippsland. It was pretty cool but could have been worse and not too wet except on one track. Kathryn is better at descending in the dark than day. Apparently its less scary when you can't see what you could crash into.

Running 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

Thursday night Harriers in Traralgon. Not as cold as it has been but still not great for running fast. I ran solidly, in 3rd place but about 100m behind 2nd for most of the way. Put a surge for the last 500m to drop Murray and Duncan who were a bit close for comfort.
Only a short warm up and cool down.
Calves weren't too bad, but whole lower limb including TibAnt were tight for the run.

Running long 2:03:31 [3] 22.35 km (5:32 / km) +384m 5:05 / km
shoes: old Asics 2100

Evening long run from Trafalgar. Up to Uralla Reserve then did a bit of exploring into South Traf. Found one of the roads on the map actually continues through and is a great dirt road climb up to Sth Traf Road. It was quite nice up there even in the dark and when my tight calve loosened up a bit I quite enjoyed myself and extended the run a bit. I met Kathryn on the descent back to Sunny Creek Connector Rd and added a bit more around Traf to make up the time. Probably the longest I've run with no food or water for years.

Running intervals 50:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Span +6

Track intervals with Kathryn on a cold evening at the Newborough Track. Warm up (in fleece jumper), then some running drills.
10x400m with 1min rest. Started to feel the hurt for the last 4. Not very fast, but at least I'm trying to get some speed back.
Cool down.

Running 1:23:00 [3] 14.0 km (5:56 / km) +500m 5:02 / km

Lunchtime run on a beautiful clear winter day. Back to Uralla reseve for another intervals session- this time 5 laps. I tried out a new pair of SILVA o-shoes that have been in the cupboard for a while and needed to get worn in. I felt quite good on the warm up so thought I should be able to improve on last friday as a) it was in daylight b) it wasn't freezing cold and raining c) I wore more appropriate shoes.
My times were a bit quicker but not as good as I expected. Pretty tiring session but good to finish it. The shoes were pretty good too.
