orienteering 10:00 [3]

Got all wound out about not being able to run and eventually just had to go out for at least ten minutes to warm up so I could do some stretching and core stuff.

Foot felt annoying but doesn't seem to get better or worse.

orienteering 30:00 [3]

Wasn't going to but went for a run anyway. Good fun with the boys doing a little series of races. Thinking more about my foot than the maps though...

orienteering 40:00 [2]

Putting out controls for training on Pukepuke

Wednesday May 25, 2011 #

Note

Have foot injury, plantar fascia, that I have been trying to manage....tried training through but hasn't really worked, so going to rest up a bit. Pretty frustrating with QB and Europe just around the corner.

road bike 1:20:00 [3]

Tuesday lunchtime ride with Liam and Hixy. Usual circuit, though this time went up Houghton Bay hill via Hungerford which is brutal on a bike geared like mine is. Did quad and calf stretches afterwards.

run 30:00 [2]

30minutes in my Inov8's gingerly...followed by stretching and icing

run 40:00 [2]

Run with Bryn.Piret, Caspar and Penny from home. Had to pull the pin after 40 as new shoes were giving me grief.

Went home and had good stretching session and iced arches. If I don't do this more I'm even more of an idiot that I thought.

mountainbike 2:30:00 [4]

Wainui 6 hour ...just rode the first 2 1/2, felt good. These tracks are probably nearly just about the best in Wellington, maybe Makara is still in front by a whisker...but I love riding on sweet single track through beech forest.

road bike 45:00 [2]

lunchtime spin around the bays, got caught by a bunch which woke me out of my slumber, smashed em when they went for it down the airport straight...lovely southerly.

run 1:00:00 [3]

Wednesday run with the O-Gang from Wilton..pretty simple loop up to Johnstones Hill and back.

Clumsily bruised dodgy arch with knobbly root. Didn't really need that in my running rest week. My suspicions that I will need to extend my orienteering shoe stable from just a pair of X Talons to survive the rocks of Europe are growing

Tuesday May 17, 2011 #

road bike 1:20:00 [3]

Roadie with Liam and Davo. Mt Vic - Mt Crawford - Houghton Bay ....first time on bike in ages but felt fit if not a little unco.

run 50:00 [2]

evening jog with Bryn, Penny and Pirate.

felt very spritely, think Bryn has finally been convinced to come to Queens Birthday

orienteering 1:15:00 [4]

Training on Pukepuke in some awesome rain.

Set 2 exercises 1) compass to easy control features with focus on identifying stepping stones by looking way out left and right. 2) a lactic education session, faster than race pace on a long leg into an easy control followed by two short technical legs (x5). Feedback from the boys was positive.

I put out the controls for the 2nd exercise then went hard around the first.

Heaps of unmapped coastal strip on Pukepuke that would be awesome :-(

run 50:00 [2]

Seatoun loop with Penny. Light running week coming up with a few bike rides in preparation for the Wainui Worldz.

orienteering 3:00:00 [3]

Training on Harakeke with Piret, Nick & Tim.

Jogged in reading maps through the remnants of Jailhouse Dunes. Then control picking on Harakeke, followed by a compass pie exercise, then more jogging, then an awesome little course designed by Nick, then finishing off by crusing around the southern part of the map through a few sweet little coastal dunes.

Piret, Nick and Tim have all being blessed by the orienteering gods (although in slightly different ways)

Friday May 13, 2011 #

run 1:30:00 [3]

finally got out to my favourite run....Belmont trig from Korokoro....loving it.

Thursday May 12, 2011 #

run 50:00 [1]

jog with penny around bot gardens and motorway cemetary, both feeling crap house today, possibly from the vaccination yesterday penny reckons...and tickets booked for Europe!!

Tuesday May 10, 2011 #

run 1:00:00 [3]

Run with Bryn and Piret from Seatoun nice night.

Monday May 9, 2011 #

run 1:10:00 [3]

lunch time run, around coast, back over Te Raikahau and Houghton Bay bush tracks & Mt Albert. Feeling good, rest days are great ;-)

Sunday May 8, 2011 #

Note

Bailed on Bryn and Piret (poor form)....but I needed some recovery...

But on the other hand we have decided to go to Europe for the orienteering summer which is very exciting....I will have to make sure not to overtrain.

Saturday May 7, 2011 #

run 1:50:00 [3]

Crazyman run with Ramash, was feeling real good, kinda wanted to go and mix it up with the big boys, but team spirit was the no1 priority

mountainbike 3:00:00 [3]

first time on a tandem mtb.

a fair bit of pushing up the single tracks - pushing a tandem up hill around switchbacks ain't fun especially with lots of people coming past all the time - but more riding was done later on.

good fun, something a bit different.

kayak 1:10:00 [3]

kayak up and down the Hutt River.....ugly way to end the day. I'm sure kayaking didn't use to feel like this!

Friday May 6, 2011 #

run 55:00 [3]

jog from work, around the coast and back over Te Raikahau point and Mt Albert

Wednesday May 4, 2011 #

run 2:56:00 [4]

3hr Karori Rogaine with Bryn. The small matter of 26km with bugger all food, water or prep. We ripped it up for about 2 hours then started to fold a little, though still running up all hills.

Real happy to be able to handle this sort of exercise again, it has been a long time, but only time will tell how the body bounces back cause I was devastated afterwards...nearly collapsed shiveriing walking down my path and had to self medicate with warm sugar water and a bath....suspect the vaccinations I had today may have contributed to this...

But at least I won't catch rabies..

Tuesday May 3, 2011 #

run 1:05:00 [3]

O-Gang run from our place, Mt Vic to the Zoo and back, a few hill strides thrown in. Awesome potluck feed (just about best ever!....both dinner and pudding. Two O Training weekend date sorted out for May :-)

Sunday May 1, 2011 #

run 2:00:00 [3]

Sunday run from Maungakotukutuku, up the Campbell Mill road to Havoc Forest then down Big Ring Boulevard and up the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail...up around Titi and down some slipper gnarliness

O-Gang present: BD, PK, PK, RS, MB, MF

We don't get out to this area enough its awesome.

And rumour has it Bryn is going to return to Attackpoint.......( I will change my run time when I see what he puts)
