Adventure Racing race 8:00:00 [3]
slept:2.5

Salomon Adventure Challenge Champs
Started with two CP's of night navigation. Lost my base plate compass on the way to #1 so it was wrist compass only for the whole race. Thick, crappy forest and a 1 minute lead at #1. Took a route very different than anybody else on #2 and opened up a 40 minute lead. It was a big risk but we wanted to shake the people following our lights. Got to the bikes still in the dark (with only one light!) Thereafter the race had no navigation (no advanced section this time) but the class 4 whitewater rafting was awesome. Took it easy on the final bike enjoying the scenary (didn't feel like a race at all at that stage). Won by 45 minutes and continued the perfect EAS season (8 for 8). Approx times per discipline: Orienteering 2:15, MTB 2:15, Canoe 2:00, Rafting 1:30.

Running 20:00 [1]

Testing...Lots of vitamin I, some A535 and no high intensity running for a warm-up and no troubles with the pain I had on Thursday. Will race cautiously on Sat.

Running 15:00 [5]
slept:8.0

Legs felt great, wearing spikes, no longer tired, cool weather, and I stretched before hand = The perfect opportunity to break Sudden's Rally record. Started off great but the rain storm made for dark woods and tough footing. Was 5 seconds ahead of record pace at 8minutes in. At 12 we were still on record pace and at 12:30 I couldn't run anymore. Felt like I had broken ribs but higher up - sternum. Sure I banged it last night training but nothing compared to the bang I got at Pawtuckaway. Can't take an deep breaths even now 2 hours later. Can't lift arms above my head either without the pain. So I am on the vitamin I and icing and hot tub test to see if I can race this weekend. But Bash has a bashed up knee and she is doing it so I can't be a princess but my long-term training is more important than the SAC race. Sucks to be injured. Sucks even more when I don't know how I did it. AND really sucks that I don't know what it is.

Note

Really tired! Will run hard on Tues and Thurs this week, easy on Wed., and then the SAC race. It is a 12 hour week and the race will fullfill that in itself
