Running 25:00 [3]

Gula Stigen!!!! With Wil and AG!
500m: Wil 1:58, me 2:30, AG! 2:48 all PBs and a WR for Wil.
3000m: Wil 1530'ish, me 17:46

The Gula Stigen 3000m is the toughest 3K I have ever run. Makes the NAOC terrain feel like a walk in the park. It is six loops of the 500m Gula Stigen loop in Nobel. As Wil says the only part of the loop you can 'settle in' is the opening 30-40m along the 'Fern Way'. Then is a rough downhill to the hairpin, up Excalibur's climb which is short and steep. By the time you get to wall hop at the ruin the legs are heavy and by loop 4 of 6 I found myself dragging my butt over those walls.

It is running like this that reminds me what it takes to be a top orienteer. You can be fast on a road or track but to be fast and smooth in the forest requires a different level of strength and training.
