Note

Most impressive performance of the SSR was the 21st overall and top junior team 'fast and furious'. Total age for the team was only 24 years (13+11). With 460 points these ARX'ers easily got the most points per total age. While the nav was pretty straight forward south of the start again this year these guys got some good points in Loree Woods and also finished with 21 minutes to spare.

Strength 15:00 [3]

much needed but body is super duper sore.

Saw Django Unchained tonight and absolutely loved it.

Before watching the blood-filled movie I saw the splits from the SSR. It appears that only five teams (including the 2.5 MEN) got all the checkpoints in Loree Forest. The top 6 teams with the exception of Running Free. Of those top 6 teams we were the 4th team to move to south of the road. 'Bent and I were only 7.39 and 6.51 behind Batkins and Foreigners respectively. We were 3.06 back of RunningFree but they skipped a 40 pointer. Considering our GPS track shows that we lost just over 6 minutes on the SI situation, we were right up with the top teams for the first half and tougher nav section of the race.

'Bent emailed me today to say that he felt he was extra baggage for the first half of the course and so I replied that I felt I was extra baggage for the 2nd half. I mentioned this email discussion to Etoile and she said to me "That's why you and Richard make such a good team because you both pretty much suck individually". :/

GPS track doesn't include 15 minutes early in the race when the watch stopped accidentally and it was "wonky" prior to that. :/

Salomon Snowshoe Raid with 'Bent. My fave race of the year was super tough this year. A couple killer climbs but made easier by 'Bent's towing. Unfortunately snow conditions were terrible and with no snowshoes the race felt incomplete. I felt awesome for the first hour but the killer climb hurt way too much and we ended up with only a net 10 points over the last 50 minutes of racing. Fail. 5th overall again but super pleased about getting all the non-matrix CP's. Nice new map made for great nav to break up some of the familiarity of last year's race in the Loree Woods during the first part of the race. Thanks for another great race 'bent! So awesome racing with someone so strong and someone that understands what knee pain is all about. OK...Time for a nap.

The spring season for ARK in Hamilton is still a whole 9 weeks away yet registration numbers are already at 90% of our autumn numbers with over 200 kids already signed up! Looks like another sell-out season!

Well done Patrick but your gonna be busy! Good thing interviews are this week for GHO's second employee!

Cycling 1:10:00 [3]

Pyscho Cycle spin class at Pulse with Turbo. Not sure what hurt more - the full on climb or the ziggurat. One more workout tonight at ARK then lots of stretching and icing and tapering for the SSR.

HAAA Sprint map. Running on the cinder track between checkpoints. Felt like Chariots of Fire.

Running 30:00 [3]

A couple extra laps of the track and loops around the school in both hours of ARK Attack and ARX. Knee felt great. Need to do more of this spinning stuff.

Note

Overheard by a parent driving home some ARX kids on Saturday after Serghei's special training session.

"So he followed us in the forest and gave us these great tips..... "
"I wonder how old you have to be to be on Canada's National Team?"
"Mom, when I'm on Canada's National Junior team if there is a race in Quebec, will you drive me there?"

Never underestimate the value of a role model - especially to a huge kids program. Thanks again Serge!
