Solo effort for Gala team. 3xloop at South Gyle, unfortunately the headwind was on the big long straight and bit out by the Broadway wasn’t the best but had to make sure I started/finish close so limited options slightly. Really bad stomach cramps from 8km onwards, tried relaxed breathing but kept coming back, knew if I stopped I’d have to do the whole thing again so slowed down and ran with my hand into my stomach and it eased just after 9km but never felt I could really kick it to finish. Need to keep working on food/stomach.
I’m happy enough with the effort though as 1min faster than when I had to do something similar in April and close to my race times despite all the miles in the legs this week. Another good session in the bank physically and mentally.

Pre breakfast, rain cleared into a nice morning. Tried to keep it easy like had been on these runs at home with Mum. Canal/WoL, which were really quiet, through Slateford finishing with 4x strides in Harrison Park.

Strength and Conditioning 17:30 [3]

Big fan of getting this out the way early in the day.

After being sunny all day it absolutely poured but met Kara for some sociable miles and felt really good. No session tonight (as another 10km session at the weekend) but just kept things a bit pacier than an easy run. Typically the sun came out again when home. Do miss the scenic routes but so good to run with freinds.

Probably one of the best sessions I've ever done.
6x1mile (90secs) out at Edinburgh Park with Kara. Think I'll be sore tomorrow. First chance to really see how much I've improved other than comparing with Dad. I've done a similar session before but with 3mins recovery at 10km pace and it was hard, absolutely blew those times out the park tonight. I thought pre session the times Kara planned to run were slightly too fast for me but actually we ran the session faster than she has before so she was buzzing too. I felt really strong and controlled until the last mile or so but ran negative splits. As usual Kara really positive, impressed with my progress saying I'm now pulling her along at times. Both excited for the future, just give me a race!

Back in the big Burgh as of last night after 15.5 weeks! Easy canal/Craiglockhart pond loop from the new flat at lunch. Probably saw more people while waiting for my gps to get satellites than on my whole usual Monday run and a lot flatter than recent but still nice to be back/somewhere different.

Running 1:09:37 [3] 13.02 km (5:21 / km) +197m 4:58 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine ISO

Went to find some hills and trails. New path fun continues as Phil directed me to a cut through at Myreside. Then round Blackford across the Hermitage and up onto Braids, nice and quiet and reminded me why Edinburgh is a great city. Down through Braidburn Valley Park then back Colinton/canal.
