Trail Runnning race 2:44:32 [4] 32.8 km (5:01 / km) +829m 4:27 / km

Stage 1:

What a start...Today was hard, much harder than last year. The course out of BV was really good, lots of variety and some great desert-like running. The course was a mix of single-track, quad trails and fire road, with a 5k finish on a gravel road.

It was super hot today and water/electrolyte intake was the key to surviving. Anyone who didn't like the sun suffered and a few teams developped electrolyte issues, losing valuable time.

Gavin was strong today, I faded near the end and started cramping pretty bad once we hit the gravel road (5k from the end). We held on for 3rd overall...

Intensity w/ Gavin today. A quick run from the BV campground, across the river to check out the end of Stage 1 in a few days.

After a short warmup, we picked up the pace and race z3 for 10min...it felt really good...Legs and body were awesome.

Can't wait to get going tomorrow...

Good run w/ Gavin and Adam Campbell - We scoped out the first part of Stage 1...it's going to be good!

Gavin and I are both ready to go - I've got a few kinks going on in the body, but overall I'm ready. See how it goes...

Revisited Stage 1 from TR Run 2007 and ran along the river path from Avon to Vail, CO. Kept the pace very easy but the hot sun and pavement pounding took its toll on the legs. A good meal, a few brews and a long stretch and I'm ready to go for tomorrow's session.

Only 2 days to go!

No rest for the wicked...Pushed the body today with 3 x 15min @ Zone 3 intensity (threshold). After a good warmup, I ran the first 15min on the flats along the river (only 2,257m in altitude!!), then ran the second one up one of the Beaver Creek runs, I finished the last on the bike path up to BVC Resort - and punched the last to raise my hr up to 181bpm, my highest yet (a good sign).

Felt wrecked afterwards...but nothing a good hot-tub and stretch can't fix!

Travel to Colorado today - now settled in Beaver Creek Resort and resting for the remainder of the week...

Easy run on the last part of Stage 6 tonight - Felt pretty good considering I was running at 2500m in altitude!
