Event (Sprint - Race 1) 28:48 [5]
ahr:136 max:165 spiked:14/14c rhr:106

Loved it - great course and held nerve well. Didn't get caught by different levels, but did get shakey when it rained. Pleased to be less than twice GrantM's time - my target for the day. Lots of fun.

Event (Sprint - Race 2) 32:54 [5]
ahr:132 max:160 spiked:16/17c rhr:79

It was a great course - so much harder to concentrate this afternoon - felt I was tiring and did lose concentration on the way to #5 when a workman tried to be helpful and tell me to go "this way". I tried too hard and did a parallel error losing about 4:30 on this leg - damn! But route choice in a few was really good (got rockman on a couple of legs - so woo hoo). Really really enjoyed the 2 sprints in the one day and guess what - I WON the W21A Sprint event!!! on cumulative time. OK I was the only one to run both events but hey!!!!!
The reason I did this course was it was the longest apart from the W21 E course - pussy course of about 1.7km is hardly worth the bother - at least I had about 2.4 or so.

Brisk walk down to I to check on info then to Art Gallery for exhibition opening. Really good exhibition and talked to Director/Curator about it. I had a little fantasy of exhibiting there - it's about the size and level I could feel comfortable in.

Event (Cascades) 58:11 [3]

Picked up map - Red 6 - holey dooley there's #2 and the line goes to #3 and so #1 is.... where? And how about a start Triangle while you're at it> Oh there we go under my thumb. Why does the line from #2 have a right anlge in it - there isn't an out of bounds (actually the line broke and was picked up by a contour so it looked bent). Used my noggin well today and again a really good clean run, using the bare rock to the max. Really felt in control all the time and didn't push speed which could be a disaster here. Starting to feel just a little bit leg weary - pleased we're not running tomorrow. Contribution to grass seed collection was minimal or almost - just shows rocks are good for something.

exploring 2:00:00 [1]

A bit of walking around Stanthorpe, buying some pottery too. Then out to a waterfall which was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment after a long, bumpy and dusty drive. However riding shotgun and hence on gate duty at the first gate I had the company of a 1m red-bellied black snake. Now I'm taking no chances here, and even though it didn't move while I was frozen with fear and rockman checked it out and declared it well and truly dead I still kept a very wary eye on it when I closed the gate. Strangely enough it hadn't moved when we returned about an hour later so I guessed it was dead - good thing too. HR monitor not required - well and truly high for the day.

Event (Day 3) 43:13 [5]

Well yesterday wasn't a fluke - again I spiked them all - well just a little bounce on #3, but I planned on that. Just such a change of fortune and performance in 2 days. 2 clean runs in a row. Picked up another 1st (by 2 minutes) so I pulled up to 5th which I was thrilled about - but just having 2 clean runs and in a row is so rewarding. Looking forward to Cascades now. You'd never guess it but QLD has grass seeds and you guessed it another different type!!! Can't pick them all out tonight as we're having dinner guests - I'll leave that pleasure until tomorrow afternoon.

Event (Day 2) 49:32 [5]

OMG - I do not believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my first clean bush run since Aus Champs 2009. I just spiked everything - not a stutter, not a stumble. It was wonderful!!!!! Clean, direct, fast, confident.... is this me??? As bad as yesterday was this was good. I hope I've turned the corner. 1st today with a lead of 6 minutes. I am stunned. Another day another type of grass seed. Spent the afternoon with rockman and GT picking grass seeds out of shoes, legs, socks, shoelaces and gaiters. We're collecting them in the duplex's bucket - GT thinks we just may fill it during the carnival
