Gardening - General (Part 3) 1:35:00 [5]
shoes: Gumboots

7:10 am - 7:35 am Lugging out more dead paperbark branches found in a spot untouched yesterday. This doesn't count as high intensity but I was stalling starting the next job!

7:35 am - 8:45 am Pulling out yet another stump as tall as me and about 20 - 25 cm diameter. Had to sling it up, and crank the chainblock through full extension, 4 times from two different locations and it was giving way slowly but hanging on to the very end. Went past 45 degrees to the ground and was almost horizontal before it finally gave in (with me jumping up and down on the end like a see-saw (safely RJ!)). Large clump of clay/dirt around root ball meant it was unliftable. Crowbarred all this dirt mass off and it was still too heavy to lift. Sweaty heartpounding work. Will rebuild chainsaw and cut in half later this afternoon.

9:05 am - 10:35 am Push Mowing. Last did this area 3 weeks (26th Feb) ago so frequency not too bad in "growing season". Will be easier next year with the fabled ride-on mower. Looks really good when freshly mowed.

Break for drink.

10:40 am - 11:30 am Yet more push mowing.

Break for lunch and shopping at Raymond Terrace since Morpeth bridge closed yet again.

1:15 pm - 1:35 pm Rebuilt chainsaw with 2nd resharpened chain. Was absolutely amazed how much the other chain must have stretched since I have sharpened it probably 8 to 10 times. I thought it was the bar gradually wearing but had to go from one extreme to the other on the tension adjustment knob.
1:35 pm - 1:50 pm Cut this mornings stump in half. Chainsaw cutting better again back to large sized wood chips and no smoke. Root ball wheelbarrowed to Fire Pit. Top log half to Fire Wood pile for later use.
1:50 pm - 2:20 pm Picking up sticks exposed from this mornings mowing to prevent getting hit in legs, and face, by them next time I mow.

Break for log update. Thinking about comrades out doing the 6 hour Street-O.

Gardening - General (Part 5) 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: Gumboots

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Miscellaneous walking around the back with wheelbarrow and chainsaw "just looking".

Found one dead large paperbark 4 m tall and thick as my leg which managed to push over and the cut up and transported to Fire Pit pile. Cut off one stump at the base as it was part of a dual branch tree and the other half was alive and well.

Highlight was finding my little mate the Owl again! Got within 5 metres of him and then crept forward 1 m at a time taking a photo each time. Of the 6 photos I took 2 came out better than yesterday. He was getting pretty nervous looking at me, turning his head around for a split second looking for an escape route, and moving his feet around on the branch. At the 2 m point he flew off.

Wheelbarrowed chainblock and slings back to garage to return to work tomorrow. Called it a day.
