Orienteering (Planning, Charlton) 4:00:00 [2] 15.0 km (16:00 / km)

Test ran the Blue course at Charlton with Jan, which took us about 1 hour 35 mins. Seems right. Also checked 45 control sites, and in the process decided to add one or two more and move a few because of ambiguities with the map. Straight is almost certainly best everywhere, although in places light brashings and intermittent undergrowth encouraged Jan onto path route.

Thought this might be tricky so didn't push it, focussing instead on good map contact. Fluffed 9 and 13 slightly, missing detail, and almost 16 too. Caught Lu at 18 and had dropped her by 20 thx to running speed. Got trapped in fight on straight line route to 23 so bailed out, found a familiar path and went round. Probably only lost about a minute or two altogether so pretty pleased.

Road run race (Corporate Challenge) 16:37 [5] 4.5 km (3:42 / km)

Better. Felt OK before and pretty good throughout. Decided not to worry about being held up from the start and began near the back. So was overtaking right to the finish. In fact, as long as I was overtaking I knew pace was right. Splits were roughly 4.05, 4.10, 4.12, 4.10. So still no sub-16.30. Need to schedule another hard race soon to retain this fitness. I don't think anything else will match this series for atmosphere though. Brilliant!
