Tim Mathis' Seattle Running Tour

My friend Tim Mathis turned 34 and so he wanted to run 34 miles and see the sights. This sounded so cool I took the day off from work and joined him. I met him on Capitol Hill and then we
- went through the Arboretum
- around Foster Island
- through Union Bay Natural Area
- along the Burke Gilman Trail to Gas Works Park
- up to and around Carkeek Park
- down through Golden Gardens
- across the Ballard Locks
- loop in Discovery Park
- finished in Fremont
We stopped several times to eat, meet friends and people joined us for sections so it was slow but the longest I have been on my feet in ages and the longest road run I have ever done.

Eased into it and then went pretty hard up the hill and back to Fleet Feet from Volunteer Park. This was my fasted time on this route yet, the only way to get much faster will be not to ease into it quite so much and start quicker.

I was surprised I was able to go quick, I thought I would be tired. Perhaps yoga last night really helped?

Cougar 10

Got out with Bryan Estes again and just like yesterday I was hating life. I had to walk several times and then slowed down the last mile and finished alone. Until then it was great to talk. Bryan and I seem to have similar views on technology.

My max heart rate sure felt higher than what my fancy watch indicates it was! I hope all this flogging is at least building a base.
