I've read various reports, not many favourable. Why did you bother waiting for the beep? I noticed you didn't bother at Elland. Obviously gps signal will be worse in woodland than an urban area..

I didn't use MapRunF at Elland, but I wish I had to see how accurate it was. I wanted to see how it went today and I was a bit disappointed. However, it could just be my phone (Moto G5) that has poor GPS reception or the processor is too slow. It may work better with a more modern phone.
Are you off to Ogden to give it a go? Undergrowth wasn't too bad, moorland was quite tussocky though.

The long course is a bit long for me at the moment but I guess I can do it anytime I want.
I got a new phone this week so hopefully that won't be an issue

We use UsinligO down here in Bristol - https://usynligo.no/races - a bit similar, in that you have to run around a bit to get the app to "sing". And i agree it's not the same as finding the flags. In fact, it's a bit crap, cos as soon as the phone app starts "singing the song", I just get out of there & head off on next leg - whether or not I've really "been" to the control feature or not. Hmmm.

Nothing's as good as real O so we make do in the meantime.....

iPhone Charlie? ;-) (great cameras on them......)
