Is it on the actual route? If not, how is it done virtually? I am not a fan of these virtual races. I think segments (which strava should make it so you don't need to membership to view) or racing are good. Virtual races just seem to be comparing apples to mangoes but then again, I don't need the motivation of a race to go out an run a distance.
They have a foundation. So they want you to enter (pay), you get this years "goody bag" (which in the previous years I've done it is terrible). You then have from July 1st until Sept 12th to register your GPX of the course on their website. So as an orienteer (I use this term extremely loosely) a time trial should be good.
The foundation gets the cash.
My motivation is I have a course PB already and there's nothing else to spend my money on.
That sounds a lot better than most of the virtual races I have seen.
