First time I rode there was when we were over for some comp, perhaps a MSW but I had my bike with me so might have had the MTBO trials shortly after - I can't rightly remember. I got so lost I needed my gps breadcrumb trace to find my way back to the car (the Garmin I have now doesn't have that feature). It was fairly dark by the time I got back (Tash was either worried or asleep in the car, most likely the latter).

More recently I'd tended to ride up one side, cross over somewhere (don't think that's an option at the moment with all the bridges washed away again) and back around the other side. With all the valleys it looked like a starburst, much like your Strava trace shows. Sometimes I'd get lost, other times found my way. Fun times.

Yes just had a look, the trip went:
-MSW
-MTBO trials where 2 of the 3 races were cancelled
-XPD Tas (I was media team because of the trials I couldn't make the start)
-Easter 3 days Tas
-Bay of Fires 3 days
Long trip and we were in a campervan for the whole Tas part of it.

Yeah it's tricky, so many trails and no signs! I think we kept hitting climbs that were just unrideable and getting frustrated. The bridges are (almost) all back now which is great!

Holy moly, that's a busy trip! You must have been knackered.

Being media team wasn't so bad after we decided that sleeping every night rather than filming and interviewing racers coming into transitions was a better use of our time!

After the Bay of Fires we decided never to go orienteering in St Helens again. Tash kept that promise; I didn't.

St Helens is so good! How could you ever make that resolution.

Maybe they just picked the crap terrains that year. Lots of sword grass. I didn't mind the venues at Oceania last year.
