the Garmin will handle a brief dunking. Just don't go swimming with it.

Thanks - that's good to know. No longer will I have to stick my arm up in the air (aka as though I'm drowning) everytime I''m about to fall into something (off feet, off bike etc).

It won't handle being smashed into rocks or flung at trees though, so if you find yourself approaching either of the above at high speed, then remember: the Garmin won't heal - skin and bones will.

re waterproofness; I found this for you. Some other faffing in there as well, but basically IPX7 means that it is shower- and puddle-proof.
