Well, first off, the car was mostly into the car park by then, and it just didn't look as though it would work going backwards, never mind the ethics of getting a 5 year old to stand in the road and watch the back end... so I had to go forwards avoiding those little fire bulb thinks (sprinkler system I guess). Then I decided that as I'd got to a flat part I could get the boat off, but there was only about 4cm room between the top of the boat and the roof (I had figured out how to lower the rudder by then). So I had to clean and jerk it - kayaking is not for me !

Then we got our important work done, and took the car and kayak out separately before reunifying them in the street. The rudder was super floppy and I thought I must have bust the cable, but when I got home, I found that the blocks the cable is anchored (which the pedals then fit to) to come right out of their rail, so no damage done !
