Are Clive and Lynne still down that way? Been a few years since I caught up with them.

I believe Clive and Lyn are still in Mandurah. I have pleasant memories of being guided by Clive in matters orienteering when I was a teenager. Under the heading of small, small world, Clive taught my partner physical education nearly 30 years ago and when I was blessed enough to finally meet her, Clive was teaching her children at the same high school in Pinjarra.

Clive, amongst many other things, has been a regular at the Blackwood Marathon Relay and is competing again this weekend. I think he is almost an institution in himself down there.

Small world and good to know. Clive and I go back to (the 70s) UWA Athletics and of course the first WA Rogaine :)

Time flies! Do you still have a copy of the first rogaine map?

I bumped into a fellow at the latest WARA rogaine last weekend who took part in the first WA rogaine - a chap by the name of Martin Hale who must have been a teenager at the time. It is of interest to me to listen to recollections of those who took part in that event. Much simpler times and for those who took part, a different sort of adventure and challenge.

I have an idea in coming years to compile a history of rogaining in WA, so sourcing photos, accounts of events, names, dates and statistics will be a challenge I suspect, especially as time marches on.

I am still in touch with Ross and Kerry Emslie who live in Ryde NSW and PB knows well and also founders of Rogaining in WA.

Clive and Lyn and their daughter attended the Australian Sprint Championships in Mandurah in 2011, but didn't compete. Instead they wandered around the area dressed as a giant Heart on behalf of our sponsor.

Their house also featured as control 7 at this Metro Series event last year.
