Orienteering race (Ultra Sprint Long 2) 19:39 [3] 1.73 km (11:22 / km) +2m 11:18 / km
shoes: Merrell Continuum

tRicky put in his usual mountain of work to create our first Ultra Sprint and it was great fun. Excellent venue (apart from the road works getting in) and a lovely morning. Great map with meticulous detail. My first leg on course 2 ended up with 2 MPs - in the trees on Abernathy Rd and in one of the alley ways at the back of the main building - I completely failed to see the third option :-(

Orienteering race (Ultra Sprint Long 1) 18:13 [3] 1.62 km (11:16 / km) +2m 11:12 / km
shoes: Merrell Continuum

Second leg on course 1 - clean
10 AM

Orienteering (Ultra Sprint Long 3) 18:48 [3] 1.69 km (11:07 / km) +3m 11:02 / km
shoes: Merrell Continuum

Third leg on course 3 - also clean but the legs were really feeling it, even tho' I was only doing a fast walk. Ended up at the back of the field as usual but it was a great event. Be good to have one each year but the amount of work and the attention to detail required looks pretty daunting, even by orienteering standards.

Cycling (FROGs ride) 3:06:18 [2] 36.15 km (5:09 / km) +55m 5:07 / km
shoes: Giant Anthem 26 ex Wally

Finally back on the bike, which is now super smooth following a major refurbishment - virtually anything that goes around (gears, cranks, brakes, bearings) was replaced after a complete strip down and clean. Only the wheels excluded. Today's ride was a challenging return - warm and pretty hard into the predicted easterly going out from Lake Monger to Tranby via the Narrows, Burswood and Garrett Rd; return via Aberdeen St was shorter and easier. The pain was eased by Rob shouting us all to morning tea - happy birthday for yesterday.
