Orienteering 21:05 [4] 3.0 km (7:02 / km)
shoes: Saucony

Sprint score event with question and answer controls round Parliament.

Good fun, but a bit frustrating at times having to slow down to read inscriptions and plaques. One or two small slips where the brain just got overloaded, but otherwise pretty good - the main losses were in trying to find the answers. Good exercise to try to keep going as smoothly as possible.

Running 27:09 [3] 5.0 km (5:26 / km)
shoes: Saucony

Loop of Botanical Gardens as a warm down (pretty much round the perimeter). Legs feeling fairly tired on the hills.

Running 1:36:55 [3] 16.0 km (6:03 / km)
shoes: VJ studs

From Keith George Memorial Park car park up the Southernmost track up to the ridge, then a fairly complete loop of the top half of St Pats Forest and back down the other track.

Up towards the ridge there is now a big sign saying "Private - no entry" and the track has been diverted to not go up to the main track. Old track still there though so went that way anyway. But if you ever want a good reason to not live in NZ - that's it. Lovely places to run but you can't go there because the countrysides's effectively closed off. Grrrrrrrrr.

Anyhow, felt OK, but foot a bit sore. Descent at the end not much fun with wet leaves covering wet tree roots. Felling continuing in St Pats Forest, which is a shame because the flatter forest at the top is just starting to get pretty runnable.

Orienteering 18:51 [4] 4.0 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 29

Running the kids score course at Harcourt Park. Effectively a night sprint rogaine with over 30 controls. All pretty easy but still useful traing at a reasonable speed in the dark. Adding to the fun was a thunderstorm - loads of lightning providing extra light, and rain just turning very heavy towards the end.
7 PM

Orienteering 12 [2] 2.0 km (6 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 29

Collecting controls afterwards. More thunder, lightning and rain, plus small ponds where it had been dry half an hour earlier.

Cycling 59:46 [3] 25.31 km (2:22 / km)

The Whitemans Valley loop, anticlockwise.

Conditions good. Generally feeling pretty good, and legs quite tired afterwards.

Running 58:05 [3] 10.0 km (5:49 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 29

Up Avro - down the track to end of Pinehaven Rd - Pinehaven Sch - Chichester Drive - Witako.

Still mostly passable down the hill, though need full leg cover (not a problem with today's temperature). Witako track as runnable as it's been, though the track back down onto the road at the end is getting a bit overgrown.

Felt generally pretty good. Foot seems to be fine again now.
