Orienteering 26:03 [3] 4.0 km (6:31 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

NZ Champs middle M50A 3.7Km
Hated yesterday, loved today. Intense course with constant concentration required. Visibility mostly fairly good, so not quite as difficult as the little model map.
Thought I'd had a good run as only missed one control by about 10s (10, stopped briefly just before then didn't see the control immediately thanks to cutty grass. However, in retrospect, had some time losses early on legs. On 2-3, was too low and had to swing round and up into it (-20s), Deliberate choice to go left 12-13 was probably 15s slower than straight. Too far right 15-16 (-15s). But still a pretty good run.
Physically good, but too conservative. Could have been, and needed to be, more aggressive.

Orienteering race 56:27 [3] 7.0 km (8:04 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

NZ Champs long 6.0Km
Not a good day. Felt pretty awful the whole time and never really got into race mode. Think it was largely the weather - 25 degrees and very humid. Thought I might be in trouble when I was sweating plenty after hardly doing any warm up before the start. The course was also very physical, particularly towards the end. On the plus side, the calf was fine.
Technically moderate. Fell over approaching 3 and got disorientated and lost about 1.5 mins. Then took a long time to get back into a rhythm, though with only small hesitations and time losses. Towards then end was not running fast enough for the orienteering to be difficult - just a physical battle.

Didn't push as hard as I could have done on the run-in ...

Orienteering race 13:08 [4] 3.0 km (4:23 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

NZ Champs Sprint - Long Bay
2 schools linked by a fairly dead run. Schools fairly standard but made a lot trickier by artificial barriers. Enjoyed the extra challenge. Pretty good run, though missed a route 1-2 (15 sec) and one or two hesitations.
Calf had felt fine in the morning, but felt sore as soon as I started trying to jog. Was concerned but after a decent warm up, it was actually OK. A bit sore after the race. Running pretty well otherwise.

Cycling 40:09 [3] 7.0 km (5:44 / km)

ACW standard loop of KGMP from Silverstream bridge. Hadn't done it in this direction for a while and had forgotten where to turn off the track along the stream so had a bit of an out and back.
Calf felt quite sore at the start having not felt too bad beforehand. But it settled down and wasn't too bad really, altough I was being fairly careful. A bit below par physically otherwise.

Cycling 57:09 [3] 25.31 km (2:15 / km)

The Whitemans Valley loop ACW
Calf was still quite sore yesterday, but a lot better today though not good enough to run. So managed to get out cycling in between the rain belts. though it was still very wet on the roads. Feeling pretty good, though the faster time is presumably mostly due to an improved (serviced) bike. No problems with the calf while cycling.
