Trail running 3:55:46 [2] 17.36 mi (13:35 / mi) +861m 11:46 / mi
shoes: Topo MT3

I figured out a new/modified loop over Parker Mt, Evans Mt, Barndoor Gap and back over Parker Mt again. This was for training for Ragged, Brian joined me.
After the first ascent of Parker, on the way down the ridge, we missed Jess's trail connector to Evan's Mt road. It was O-ing as I had map and compass with me, albeit a rugged off-trail section.
Then, two bikers whom we met at Evans Mt recommended a trail connector to Camp Foss, which we found! Great!
Then discovering the trails in the N section of the loop. All nice and runnable. Eventually took a wrong (not mapped) traversing N to another main trail on the way to the "moler' pond. Again easy navigation. MIssed the mapped trail by about 100m. Then from the lowpoint at M pond all the way back up to Parkers imposed a heavy duty workout, miles 14 - 16. Finally cruising down to the cars was sweet.
I rewarded myself with a quick swim at Bow afterwards, as my thighs did not like being in the car for too long: little twitching signaling the onset of cramping.

Trail running 58:04 [3] 6.5 mi (8:56 / mi) +85m 8:35 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 910 sz 9

Rambling by the Friday morning dog walkers on my way through W Foss Farm and College Woods. Inspected the COVID testing area again - line of cars just forming around 8:10 am.

Pleasantly cool but sunny morning. The woods is the place to be.

To College Woods via W Foss Farm. Much drier this morning and in spite of the heat rising from 75 to 85, there was a coolness to be felt in the woods. As has been the case for a while now, it feels good after about 2 miles when my old-age creeky body is warmed and lubricated...
I took a loop by the football arena to see if the drive-through COVID testing site was busy. There was about a 100m standing line of cars. Glad I didn't go. I am holding out going to my office until the week of August 10, so will need to get a test some time next week.

An after breakfast but before work run - read: with breakfast in stomach. Fortunately no repercussions. But I had to be back before 8 am to show the electrician around. Actually all these constraints including the hot sun rising quickly, made me go faster, yet it seemed just normal. Even had energy to push the last mile with a bit of "cheating" by running on the pavement for about 1/2 mile. Now I can relax for the rest of the day (so I hope).

Road Running warm up/down 13:58 [1] 1.33 mi (10:30 / mi) +3m 10:26 / mi
shoes: Altra, Escalante

Dover Pub Run - Warmup
6 PM

Road Running 40:48 [3] 5.36 mi (7:37 / mi) +75m 7:18 / mi
shoes: Altra, Escalante

Dover Pub Run: Red's 5 miler counterclockwise. Easy going today with the "gang of four" : Dan, Chris, Brian and I. We started with a relaxed pace, as it was hot. But then clouds moved over and the cool down started, so a bit of speed-up on the downhill of the last mile.
Afterwards Burrito and Beer and good times spaced around on the large picnic tables of the Brick. My neighbor Joanie joined us today also for the social afterwards. Bonus!

Trail running 46:17 [3] 5.01 mi (9:14 / mi) +65m 8:53 / mi
shoes: On Cloud grey-black

5 @ 8 @ 80.
Temps dropped to a comfy 80 at 8 pm so an 8 miler might have been appropriate, but it got dark after 3 miles (that's my excuse!). So I tried very hard to maintain the tempo and not wreck my ankles through the single-track sections (mile 1 - 3.5) as I did not bring a headlamp. Another sweatfest afterwards! I hung all my coverings onto the line for drying on the deck and did naked warm-down stretches in the moonlight :-) celebrating the hottest night ever here in NH.
